In our last articles pertinent to listening module, we discussed about the fundamental concepts to strengthen our grip in this module. Now, let’s discuss the best technique to prepare for IELTS listening module. Follow the below mentioned tips and strategies to boost your band score.

1. Study on regular basis

The prominent point is being consistent for studying. If a candidate aspires to really crack the test with flying colors, he/she needs to be regular. Owing to the fact that in IELTS test only listening is not the section to attempt; the student must divide his preparation time equally between all the four sections of test. 2. Follow proper time table

4. Frame strategies as per your performance and mock test score

When student takes mock test, they become able to analyze their performance overview section wise. So students should identify their errors carefully and need to take actions accordingly. If you are scoring 7 bands or below, you can join institute for expert advice. In some sections of listening, students face difficult questions which require more time to comprehend the meaning, here you should emphasize on tips for focusing specifically on that type of question. You need to practice them solely too for example, solving only MCQS if needed for around half an hour a day. But make sure you are not hampering other questions for that type only.

5. Follow instructions religiously

The very first thing that every student should do is reading and analyzing instructions properly before the recording. If instructions are not followed by the candidate, his answers are marked wrong despite having right logic. For instance, if instruction says,” write no more than one word or a number” , you need to keep it in mind. If answer for any question is 25 and you write it as twenty five it would be marked wrong as it will be of two words. Also articles like a/an/the are counted as words.

6. Use your own knowledge

Try to understand and predict the demand as per your own knowledge. These tests are related to everyday situations so you can easily your senses to comprehend the meaning of some questions.

7. Write answers on test sheet first

For paper based exam aspirants, it’s advisable to note down the answers on question paper while hearing to the recording as it will reduce your distraction and lastly you can transfer them on fair sheet with more focus and check on spelling errors.

8. Stay tuned in

Sometimes you miss one question’s answer, don’t panic at that time. Focus on next question and later do guess work if possible.
