Authority: persons who exercise control over others
Sentence: a policeman has the authority to arrest lawbreakers

Court: an assembly to conduct judicial business
Sentence: there was a large group of protesters outside the court.

Defendant: someone against whom an action is brought in a court of law
Sentence: the defendant was charged with disturbing the peace.

Deter: turn away from as by fear or persuasion

Enact: order by virtue of superior authority;
Sentence: a package of economic sanctions is to be enacted against the country.

Plaintiff: a person who brings an action in a court of law
Sentence: the plaintiff claimed damages for the financial losses suffered through breach of copyright

Prosecutor: an official conducting criminal cases on behalf of the state
Sentence: the local prosecutor is investigating the case of document forgery.
