SAMPLE ANSWER
These days’ magazines are often filled with articles about the latest way in which to get fit and lose weight. But which is more important in order to lead a healthy life – doing regular exercise or eating a balanced diet? This essay will look at each of them and conclude that both are important in order to maintain a healthy body.
First of all, regular exercise is key to a healthy body. Experts recommend that we move our bodies throughout the day. This doesn’t have to be vigorous exercise; it could be walking briskly to the bus stop or walking up a flight of stairs. Running, swimming and cycling are also excellent for building all-round fitness and are not expensive to do. Besides off-setting the negative impact of a sedentary lifestyle, exercise can relieve stress, contributing to a healthy mind.
But is just exercising enough? Diet also plays an important role in helping us lead healthy lives. Although there are many fashionable diets around, eating a variety of foods such as fruit, vegetables, grains, dairy products, meat and fish is all that we need to do to help our bodies to function well. This will provide the body with the nutrients and the energy it requires to function well.
In conclusion, I would argue that both regular exercise and a balanced diet are essential to leading a healthy life. Exercise alone is not enough to help us to stay healthy if we have a very poor diet. Unfortunately, many people are becoming obese, so it is important that we try to incorporate exercise and healthy food into our daily lives.
