IELTS Speaking Test

Do you like writing by hand?

As far as I am concerned, writing is just a tool. Albeit whether it’s handwriting, or using typing my handwriting is not that good, and sometimes I even find it hard to read what I have written. I guess what I am trying to say is that I do not have strong feelings either way.

How often do you write with a pen?

I hardly ever use a pen and if I do, it’s normally to make a short note to remind me to do something. Just about everything I write nowadays is done using a computer. In fact, I used to be able to handwrite for hours on end, but currently, if I write for longer than five minutes my hand really starts to hurt.

Do you prefer to handwrite or type?

To be perfectly frank, I am sitting on the fence with this question. Handwriting can be done anywhere and at any time as long as you have a pen and paper and enough light. Using a computer on the other hand is limited by the availability of electricity. Even if you are using a laptop there will come a time when the device needs charging. Therefore, as far as I’m concerned. Both have a place in my life.

Is your handwriting easy to read?

Sadly, no, it is often hard for people to decipher. My handwriting has never been legible and in fact, it has got worse because I seldom need to write nowadays. However, I have found that if I use a really good quality pen, the quality of my writing gets to be a lot easier to read.

Do you like to watch advertisements on TV?

No, not really because I find them really annoying.  Occasionally there is an advertisement that is interesting when you see it for the first time but after a while, it too becomes boring.  However, I do realise they are a necessary evil as TV companies have to make money so I guess it’s a small price to pay.

How often do you see advertisements on the internet?

Advertisements on the internet are constant.  It is very rare nowadays to find a website that does not have some type of advertisements. Some are very crafty as they manage to store your preferences and provide advertisements on the page you are visiting that are targeted towards those.  That is really annoying as I feel my right to privacy is being violated.

When I was a child, I visited a beautiful beach resort called “Sunny Shores” with my family. It was located a few hours away from our hometown, so we drove there for a weekend getaway. I was about 9 years old at the time, and the visit was in the summer holidays, which made it even more exciting as it was the perfect season for a beach vacation.

At Sunny Shores, I spent most of my time swimming in the sea, building sandcastles, and playing beach volleyball with my siblings. We also went on a boat ride to explore nearby islands, and I remember the boat ride being thrilling with the wind in my hair and the sight of clear blue water. In the evenings, we would sit around a bonfire on the beach, roasting marshmallows and telling stories. It was a really memorable experience.

If I had the chance, I would definitely visit this place again. The serene atmosphere, coupled with fun activities, made it such a relaxing and joyful experience. Plus, I think it would be nice to return as an adult, either with friends or family, to relive those moments and perhaps try new things like water sports or exploring the local culture more deeply.

Why do you think people like to visit beaches?

I think people enjoy beaches because they offer a sense of relaxation and escape from the busy pace of life. The sound of the waves, the fresh sea air, and the warmth of the sun create a soothing environment. It’s also a great place to engage in fun activities like swimming, playing sports, or even just taking long walks along the shore.

How has the place changed since you visited?

Since I visited as a child, I imagine the beach resort may have undergone some development, with more modern amenities or increased tourism. However, the natural beauty of the coastline would likely remain unchanged. I’d be curious to see if they’ve expanded the range of activities offered to visitors.

IELTS Speaking Test

Do you think people visit the same place more than once?

Yes, I believe many people return to the same places, especially if they have had positive experiences there. A familiar destination can provide a sense of comfort and nostalgia, which is why people often visit places that hold special memories. Moreover, certain places may offer unique features or activities that make them worth visiting again.
