PART – 1 INTRO
What is your full name?
My name is Garesham Ram.
How may I address you?
You may address me as Gresham.
May I see your ID?
Sure, here you go.
Do you like to wear hats?
Although hats help shield your hair and face from direct sunlight, to be honest I don’t really like wearing hats daily. My hair is always a mess after I take them off. Instead of wearing hats, I think I prefer bringing an umbrella with me.
What kinds of hats do you have?/ Which hat do you like?
As I’ve mentioned, wearing hats is definitely not my daily style, so generally I don’t have any hats at home. There is the only type of hat I’m particularly fond of, which is baseball caps. This kind of hat can give me a sporty and strong look, you know.

Where do you like to buy hats?
Since there isn’t a good selection of hats at my local apparel store, I have to buy hats from specialty headware stores, or even online.
Is wearing hats popular in your country?
It’s not much sought after in my country where the motorbike is the most common means of transportation, and it is a must to wear a helmet whenever you ride a motorbike for safety. I think you can imagine how much uncomfortable it is to wear a hat under the helmet. Thus in most of the case, hats are for pedestrians and fashionista.

Do you have any hobbies?
Well, everyone has their own leisure pursuits, and mine is reading. The book I’m reading at the moment is The Godfather by renowned author Mario Puzo. It’s a classic, really, and I’d recommend it.
Is it important to have a hobby?
Definitely! I mean nowadays life is getting more and more hectic, so people are always under an enormous amount of stress. That’s why it’s helpful to get into some recreational activities to be able to unwind and just forget about life for a minute, you know?

Gifts are ways to commemorate special occasions and express happiness. Like most people, I like surprises and gifts, be it a bar of small chocolate or a trip somewhere new. For me, all that matters is the emotion attached to it. Therefore, when my grandmother gave me a handmade woollen scarf when I was leaving for college, I could not control my tears.
It might seem to be a very simple gift to most, but for me, it held a special place because my grandmother was the guiding light and soothing presence for me till her last day. The scarf was predominantly blue, which is my favourite colour, with intricate patterns in peach and white. It was very soft to the touch and reminded me of my granny’s calming caresses. As my college was in Dehradun, it never left my side, even though I was not using it.
When my grandmother passed away, a few years after she gave me the gift, the scarf became my go-to companion when I was in trouble or upset about something and wanted to feel my grandmother’s presence. I still preserved the scarf in the same condition, honouring the last gift from my dear grandmother, as it is one of the most cherished gifts from the most consequential person in my life.

PART – 3 FOLLOW UPS
Do you think that gift-giving will play an important role in daily life in the future? Why?
It seems to me that this is a bit ambiguous. More precisely, present giving is something that occurs in special events, for example, at birthdays, festivals, anniversaries, wedding, graduation day, on name days, when someone visits others and so on.
I don’t think that there are many people around the world who give presents to their loved ones or to friends on a daily basis. Furthermore, with regards to the future, I am of the opinion that giving gifts won’t have a special role in everyday life either because, as I said earlier, presents are given when something important happens. However, there is no doubt that present giving plays an important role in our relationship and that will always remain the same.

Compare the gifts which people have received 10 years ago to the gifts that people now are receiving? What’s the difference between them?
To answer this question we have to go back to the past and think of the types of presents we gave and received. Despite my young age, I have some memories of such presents that my family and relatives gave me. I would say that in the past, specifically 10 years ago, the types of gifts exchanged were primarily clothes, toys, household appliances and books. Apart from the fact that they weren’t related to technology, they were also significantly important, educational and in most cases and most of the time expensive.
Nowadays, presents are more symbolic than substantial or useful. People these days often give and receive technology-related gifts which were quite rare in the past. To illustrate, the important gifts that I received on my last birthday were perfumes and a laptop. Of course, gifts items in all decades do not remain the same. It will change for sure after ten years. The love and good wishes behind a gift are more important than the item itself.

Do you think that the brand name is very important for sales?
I believe that the brand name really matters and it affects the sales volume of a product. Most companies spend a huge amount of money on branding in order to make the product or service famous. We could say that branding is an enterprise itself because it constitutes an amazingly important part of the company and its viability.
As branding is a core aspect of a company, brand managers try to acquire customers and maintain relationships with them. Moreover, through advertising, media exposure and celebrity endorsement sales are on the rise most of the time for popular brands. Personally, I would spend more money to purchase a branded product. Hence I am quite positive that brand name is important for sales.
