Succinct: briefly and clearly expressed.
Sentence: Keep your letter succinct and to the point.
Scrutinize: to examine something very carefully in order to discover information.
Sentence: Her performance was carefully scrutinized by her employer.
Imminent: likely to happen very soon
Sentence: they were in imminent danger of being swept away
Groun-Breaking: original and important; showing a new way of doing or thinking about things:
Sentence: She was honored for her groundbreaking work in nuclear physics.
READING VOCABULARY
Repercussion: an unintended consequence of an event or action, especially an unwelcome one.
Sentence: Any decrease in tourism could have serious repercussions for the local economy
Withstand: remain undamaged or unaffected by; resist.
Sentence: The building has to be strong enough to withstand severe winds and storms.
Hierarchy: a system in which people or things are arranged according to their importance.
Sentence: A new management hierarchy was created within the company.
State of the art: very modern and using the most recent ideas and methods:
Sentence: The plane uses state-of-the-art navigation equipment
Irreparable: impossible to repair or make right again
Sentence: Irreparable damage has been done to the forests by cutting down trees.
