ANCHOR – to fix something firmly so that it cannot move.
Sentence – The anchor was attached to a length of rope.

ARCHIVES – a place where historical records are kept.
Sentence – Most historians simply rely on archives.

CHORUS – the part of a song that is repeated at the end of each verse.
Sentence – The chorus of the new song was stuck in my head all day.

ECHO – a sound that is repeated as it is sent back off a surface such as the wall of a tunnel.
Sentence – The echo resounded back to us.

APLOMB – self-confidence or assurance.
Sentence – He delivered the speech with his usual aplomb.

CRUMB – a very small dry piece of bread, cake or biscuit.
Sentence – These cakes will crumb even if you freeze them a bit.

DUMB – not able to speak, stupid
Sentence – he is literally a dumb man!

JAMB – a side post or surface of a doorway, window, or fireplace.
Sentence – Look out for the graffiti from 1970 on the door jamb.

LAMB – A young sheep.
Sentence – The lamb was killed by wolf.

NUMB – not able to feel anything.
Sentence – Doctor will give you an injection and your hand will ho numb.

SUBTLE – not very noticeable
Sentence – It was a subtle shade of grey.

SUCCUMB – to stop fighting against something
Sentence – No matter what, do not give up and do not succumb to fear.

KNACK – skill or ability to do something.
Sentence – She has a knack of making friends.

KNAVE – a dishonest or unscrupulous man.
Sentence – Better be a fool than a knave.

KNEAD – to work and press into a mass with or as if with the hands
Sentence – Add the water and knead the mixture well.

KNIGHT – a soldier of a high level who fought on a horse in the Middle Ages.
Sentence – The knight tilted at his opponent.

KNOB – a round handle on a door, drawer, etc.
Sentence – She turned the knob, but the door didn’t open.

KNOLL – a small round hill.
Sentence – There is a bower on the knoll.

KNUCKLE – the bones where your fingers join the rest of your hand.
Sentence – Skill levels are from very easy to real knuckle busters.

AWRY – wrong, not in the way that was planned; untidy.
Sentence – Clearly, something has gone awry.
