IELTS Academic Line Graph
In IELTS line graph may come in the Task 1 in the Academic test. A picture will be given in the exam which will consist of two axis horizontal (X-axis) and Vertical (Y-axis). The x-axis usually represents the time period and the y-axis shows the measurements. There will be lines between both the axis which will represent some data and you will have to explain it in minimum 150 words. Describe a Line graph in IELTS
There are two types of line graphs that you can face in the exam first is the simple line graph which have only one line and the other is complex which includes two or more lines. These lines will be of various colours and each representing different factors or data.
Write Introduction
The first thing is to read the given statement carefully as without knowing what exactly the graph is demonstrating you will not be able to start the task. After understanding the statement have a look at the given line graph. Another thing to remember is to check the heading as it will give you a better idea about the topic. After understanding everything you can start writing introduction.
Writing Body Paragraphs
The introduction come the body paragraph for this you have to analyze the Line Graph for this. You can write only one detailed body paragraph if there is a single line in the graph. If the graph consists of two or more lines than you have to write two body paragraphs to give the detailed information about the graph.
Start the body paragraph with some line of your own. To make a connection with the graph use some words the trends such as constantly increasing, gradually decreasing, stable, etc. and peak points.
Second body paragraph –
In the second paragraph you should write about the main points of the IELTS line graph, you should make good line comparison. You may even mention the intersection points if any.
Besides, mention the peak points at the start and continue with the corresponding data mentioning the range (highest or lowest).
Of course, these highlights are nothing but the essential features that make your writing task very scoring.
