IELTS SPEAKING TEST
PART – 1 INTRO
What is your full name?
My full name is Ashish Mehra.
How may I address you?
You may address me as Ashish.
May I see your ID?
Sure, here it is.
Have you ever seen some old buildings in the city?
Yes, there are some old buildings in this city. I come from a city which is full of old buildings, but in this city there’s not so many, but there are some, and I really like that. I think a city should remember its heritage.
IELTS Speaking Test
Do you think we should preserve old buildings in cities?
Yes, I do think old buildings should be preserved, not any old building. If it’s old and run down and it’s going to fall down, then it should be knocked down and rebuilt, or a new building should be built. But, you know, if it’s something of historical significance, or a particularly beautiful building of maybe architectural significance, then they should be preserved.
Do you prefer living in an old building or a modern house?
I think there’s advantages in both old buildings and modern houses. Personally, I prefer older buildings because I’m very tall and the ceilings are usually higher, although sometimes there’s issues with draughts and insulation.
IELTS Speaking Test
Are there any old buildings you want to see in the future? Why?
Yes, ancient rather than old buildings. I’d still like to see some ancient buildings. I’ve been to many places, but I’ve never been to Egypt or Greece or some of these really historic places in the Middle East, some of which are huge stone buildings, which I just think are absolutely incredible.
What snacks do you like to eat?
I don’t usually like crisps or anything like that. I usually eat things like biscuits. I try not to eat too many. And at the moment I am eating sultanas, which I absolutely love, to be quite honest with you.
IELTS Speaking Test
Did you often eat snacks when you were young?
No, I didn’t really. We had our meals at meal times and that was it, basically. Unless there was a piece of fruit sometime in the evening. Although my brother and I hardly ate it at all.
When do you usually eat snacks now?
These days, if I eat snacks at all, I’ll be watching TV, which is more or less every night. And I just need something maybe around 09:00, 09:30. I need just something to something to do with my mouth rather than, it’s not a matter of hunger, really.
Do you think it is healthy for you to eat snacks?
I don’t really, I think it’s better to eat something rather than go to bed hungry, to be quite honest with you, because if I go to bed hungry, then I don’t sleep very well. But I think it’s better for the food to be digested before you go to sleep.

To develop this skill, I practiced speaking in front of a mirror and recorded myself to analyze my mistakes. I also watched TED Talks and observed how great speakers communicate effectively. Additionally, I joined a debate club at my university, which helped me gain confidence and refine my speaking abilities.
I believe this skill is extremely useful because it enhances communication, boosts confidence, and opens up new career opportunities. Whether in a job interview, a business meeting, or a social event, the ability to speak clearly and persuasively is always beneficial. It has also helped me become a better listener and thinker, as I have learned to organize my thoughts more effectively.
