IELTS Speaking Test
Is summer your favourite time of year? [Why/Why not?]
I like the summer season when it is not too hot, but I cannot say that it is my favourite season because I like autumn over any other season. During mild summer, which lasts for just a month or two, the weather is just perfect for outdoor activities and visiting beach areas. But the rest of the summer is too hot and too humid for my liking. In our country, the sun often shines mercilessly and the temperature reaches around 40 degree Celsius.
What do you do in summer when the weather’s very hot? [Why?]
I am extremely lucky that I own a house that has air coolers, and I work in an office that has a central air conditioner. I even have my own car. So I can mostly avoid the fierce hot weather and stay cool indoors. Sometimes when I go out without the comfort of the car, I can feel the heat and perspire profoundly. This is extremely annoying but this is the reality for millions of people in our country. During summer, I try to drink plenty of water and go out during the evening time after sunset to avoid direct sunlight.

Do you go on holiday every summer? [Why/Why not?]
Yes, I enjoy holidays during the summer season, when I get one or two weeks’ leave from my office. I either choose a sea beach or a location near a river or a lake in summer to enjoy the view and get away from the hustle and bustle of city life.
Did you enjoy the summer holidays when you were at school? [Why/Why not?]
During my school days, the summer seasons were not as hot and humid as they are today, or at least this is what I think now! So I was not too concerned about the extreme weather during summer seasons back then. And of course, I loved the summer holidays as it meant a long leave from school, visiting grandparents’ house and doing fun activities with family and friends. Those were magical days.

What do you like to drink with your dinner? [Why?]
With my dinner, I usually prefer to drink water. Water is a refreshing and hydrating beverage that complements the flavours of the food without overpowering them. It helps to cleanse the palate and aids in digestion. Additionally, water is a healthier choice as it has no added sugars or calories, and it keeps me well-hydrated throughout the meal.
Do you drink a lot of water every day? [Why/Why not?]
Yes, I make it a point to drink an adequate amount of water every day. Water is essential for maintaining proper bodily functions, regulating body temperature, and promoting overall health. It helps to hydrate the body, flush out toxins, and support various bodily processes. Additionally, staying hydrated helps me feel more alert, energized, and focused throughout the day.

The place I would like to talk about is a beautiful park near my house, called Greenwood Park. It’s a lovely place, full of lush greenery, a small lake, and winding walking paths. I’ve taken photos there on several occasions, both alone and with my friends and family.
IELTS Speaking Test
The first time I went to Greenwood Park was a couple of years ago with my family, during a weekend picnic. It was spring, and the flowers were in full bloom, which made it the perfect setting for some photos. After that, I started visiting more regularly, sometimes alone to enjoy some quiet time, and sometimes with friends.
I also went there last summer with a close friend who loves photography, so we spent a few hours taking pictures of the lake, the trees, and some wildlife. Every time I visit, I find new spots to capture.
My experience at Greenwood Park has always been wonderful. It’s a peaceful place, perfect for relaxing or just taking in nature. There are often people jogging or walking their dogs, and sometimes you can even hear the sound of birds chirping, which adds to the calm atmosphere. It feels like an escape from the busy city life. The best part is the lake, which reflects the sky beautifully at different times of the day. Whether it’s sunrise, midday, or sunset, the scenery changes, and there’s always something new to capture.
Taking photos in Greenwood Park always leaves me feeling content and inspired. Every time I capture a beautiful scene, it’s like I’m preserving a moment of peace and natural beauty. I feel a sense of accomplishment, especially when I get a shot that truly reflects the peaceful atmosphere of the park. It’s also a great way to relax and de-stress. Looking at the photos later brings back memories of my time there, and it’s nice to relive those moments through the images.

PART – 3 FOLLOW UPS
Do you prefer taking photos of people or scenery?
I personally prefer taking photos of scenery. I find landscapes and natural settings more interesting to photograph because they are constantly changing, and each shot can be unique. However, I do enjoy taking pictures of people during special moments or celebrations.
How do you feel about people sharing their photos on social media?
I think it’s great that people share their photos on social media. It’s a way of expressing creativity and connecting with others. However, I think it’s important to maintain some privacy and not over-share personal moments. As long as it’s done in a respectful and thoughtful way, sharing photos can be a wonderful way to document life’s experiences.

Has technology changed the way we take photos?
Absolutely! Technology has had a huge impact on photography. With smartphones, almost everyone has a camera in their pocket, and there are so many apps to enhance photos. It’s made photography more accessible, and people can take high-quality photos without needing expensive equipment. However, I think there’s still something special about using a DSLR camera or film photography to capture moments more intentionally.
