IELTS SPEAKING INTERVIEW

PART – 1 INTRO

What is your full name?

My name is Arshpreet Kaur.

How may I address you?

You may address me as Arshpreet.

May I see your ID?

Sure, here it is.

Can people read your hand-writing easily?

I’m afraid not. I envy those who have clear hand-writing, you know. Having neat handwriting has a wide variety of uses. Not only does it gain you some “bragging right” with friends but it might also help increase your IELTS writing score, am I right?

IELTS Speaking Interview

Do you people can know about a person through handwriting?

Sure. And I’m not saying having terrible hand-writing means you are an awful person. It just means you might be a bit more careless and hot-tempered than people who have nicer handwriting.

Do you like to receive hand-written cards or emails?

I receive emails every day and hand-written cards on only special occasions like birthdays or anniversaries so of course I treasure these cards more. They feel much more personal than emails, too.

IELTS Speaking Interview

How often do you receive emails?

Quite often. I mean email is extremely multi-functional, no doubt. I have three separate emails for different uses: one for personal purposes, one for my work and one for my study.

Do you think people should reply to an email instantly?

Yes I think it’s basic etiquette, you know. Responding to emails immediately after receiving them is a way to show respect to the senders.

Do you prefer to receive emails or texts?

I don’t know. Probably texts because I don’t have to log in to any account to answer messages.

IELTS Speaking Interview

Sample Answer

Public transport is one of the most economical and easily accessible modes of reaching different places in our country. These are available in various forms like Metro Trains, buses, EMU trains and government approved taxi services. These transport systems are the best via media to commute in today’s fast moving world. Due to its nominal rates even a common man is able to move without burning his pocket. Government promotes public transport as it not only helps to reduce heavy traffic, but also helps to keep pollution under control.

Though public transport is of great assistance but it is disheartening to see the state of the vehicles especially the buses and the EMUs. It is the responsibility of the citizens to help the authorities to keep these transport facilities clean and hygienic. Most of us do not respect the law and make these vehicles dirty which reflect our society in a very negative way.

Like in Metro Trains, there should be strict laws so as to impose heavy fines if someone is found littering and spoiling public transport .Media should also be made responsible to create awareness and more and more people should be educated to respect this wonderful facility provided by the Government.

PART – 3 FOLLOW UPS

Q. 1: How easy is it to travel around your country?

Answer: We have a good number of public transportations including bullet trains, modern buses and aeroplanes and I would say someone can travel in my country very easily. Major cities in my country have airports and it makes commuters’ life hassle-free. Since we have eight-lane highways and they are maintained periodically, someone can drive his/her own car to commute from one area to another smoothly.

Besides, metro rails are convenient for city-dwellers to commute to and from their offices and citizens can take long-route trains to visit other districts and they are comparatively cheaper.

Q. 2: Which method of travel do you consider the safest? Why?

Answer: Despite some common misconceptions, I believe airways are the safest means of transportation. We have frequent national and international flights and the service is really excellent. Aviation accidents are deadly and claim the lives of many, and such accidents often make headlines which gives an impression that air travel is nocuous.

However, if we compare air causalities with that of road accidents, we can easily learn that air travel is the safest. Flying is the most secure way to get around in my country as flights are well-organised and the air traffic is controlled more efficiently by trained professionals.

Q. 3: Has travel become safer in recent years than that was in the past?

Answer: Some people would say that accidents and casualties are higher in modern time than in the past. But I believe that travelling in recent years has significantly improved and offers more convenience to commuters. We see more accidents these days because they all are being reported in the news unlike the past when we could hear about only major accidents.

In recent days, we have more strict traffic rules, acute safety measures including biometric checking, and modern transportations which are built considering safety in mind. Rigid airport rules make terrorist attacks almost impossible.

A typical train station in my country has more than 15 train schedules and they carry thousands of passengers each day. Such a station used to have only three to four trains a day. If we consider the number of vehicles and commuters with that of the past, we would get a real picture of road safety, which I believe has advanced in recent days.
