IELTS Speaking Test
Are you interested in robots? /Do you like robots?
Yes, absolutely! Robotics engineering is a field I take a keen interest in. I have actually subscribed to a journal entirely dedicated to robots called “The Robot Workshop”. The other day I read a really interesting article about how robots can be used to perform surgeries.
Do you like robots to work at your home?
I think that’s a brilliant idea. I’m quite lazy, so household chores like cleaning or cooking are a real hassle. I would prefer to have those done by a robot. Actually, we have a robotic vacuum cleaner at our house. It’s truly a life-saver.

Do you want to take a car which robot is the driver?
Well you know nowadays, self-driving cars are certainly not a strange topic anymore. A.I. has gotten more sophisticated, and it’s more than capable of navigating addresses and controlling a vehicle. However, I will say I don’t really feel comfortable letting robots take the wheel. I think they are not 100 percent reliable, and may not handle dangerous situations like a slippery road as well as a human driver does. So for now I still prefer to drive manually.
Will robots replace human beings in the workplace completely?
Well, these days human labor is being marginalized by automation in the workplace, especially in manufacturing. Labor-intensive tasks can be done by machines with ease and precision. However, there are always things that require the delicate touch of a human hand. For example, a hand-made shirt always has more soul than a machine-made one.

PART – 2 CUE CARD
Describe your journey to college or work.
You should say:
– what forms of transport you usually use
– how long it usually takes
– how you usually spend your time while traveling
and explain how you would make your journey more pleasant if you could.
SAMPLE ANSWER
My daily journey to work involves a combination of public transport. I typically use the subway to travel from my home to the city center, and then I switch to a bus for the final part of my commute.
The subway is very efficient and takes around 30 minutes, while the bus ride takes about 15 minutes, depending on the traffic. Overall, the entire journey usually lasts about 45 minutes to an hour.

During this time, I like to make the most of the commute. I usually listen to music or podcasts, which helps me relax and prepare mentally for the day ahead. Sometimes, if I’m in the mood to be productive, I read a book or check emails. I’ve also started using the commute time for light meditation, especially when I’m feeling stressed. It helps me stay calm and focused throughout the day.
If I could make the journey more pleasant, I’d choose to travel in a less crowded subway car. The trains can get very packed, particularly during rush hour, which makes the journey uncomfortable. I’d also like to have more green spaces or parks near the stations, so I could take a walk or sit in a more peaceful environment before getting on the bus. Lastly, having better Wi-Fi connectivity on public transport would make it easier to work or relax during the ride.

PART – 3 FOLLOW UPS
What do you like about your journey to work or college?
I enjoy the quiet moments when I listen to podcasts or music. It’s a good way to disconnect from any distractions at home and get ready for my day. The subway system is also quite punctual, which makes the trip reliable and predictable.
Is there anything you dislike about your journey?
Yes, the biggest issue is the crowd, especially during peak hours. It can be very uncomfortable to stand close to so many people, and it can be difficult to find a seat. Another downside is the occasional delay in the bus service, which can make the commute longer than expected.

How could the transportation system be improved in your city?
There are several ways the transportation system could be improved. First, increasing the frequency of buses during rush hours would help ease congestion. Second, creating dedicated lanes for buses could make travel quicker. Lastly, expanding the subway system or increasing the number of carriages could reduce crowding.
Do you prefer traveling alone or with others?
I prefer traveling alone because it allows me to focus on my own thoughts, listen to music, or read a book without any distractions. However, if I’m traveling with friends, it can be enjoyable to chat during the commute, but it’s not something I prefer on a daily basis.
Have you ever used a taxi or rideshare service? How was your experience?
Yes, I’ve used taxis and rideshare services like Uber on a few occasions. The experience is generally more comfortable because of the privacy and the ability to control the air conditioning or music. However, the cost is much higher than public transport, so I usually only opt for a taxi when I’m in a hurry or when public transport is not available.
