IELTS GENERAL WRITING TASK 1

You live in a small university town. Last week, you drove to a big city about two hours away to buy a new laptop at a good price. You worked on the laptop all week and finished writing a long assignment that is due shortly. However, this week, the laptop doesn’t even switch on. Write to the store. In your letter:

– tell the store where you live & what happened

– explain the problem with the laptop

– state what action you would like the store to take

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing this letter to show my disappointment regarding the faulty laptop which I purchased from your store last week. My name is Nikita, and I live at 73 West Gate ,which is more than 50 kilometers far away from your place .One of my friends has recommended this which made me drive so long.

On 23th May , Tuesday, I visited your showroom and bought a HP Laptop serial number WE432789 and made the payment by credit card , the invoice number is NB23456.Only a week passed and the laptop started giving me trouble.

Let me elaborate on the problem. I had been working on the laptop till last night and the following morning when I opened the laptop and pushed on the power button to switch on it, I found that it was not working then I plugged in the charging cable and waited for sometime but it did not turn. Moreover, the screen was blank.

I am displeased with the quality of the product and request you to replace the laptop or send any technician to check the issue. This has to be fixed within a day ,as my important project is saved in its drive .
