ITALIAN STYLE BOAT HERE
Bring a bit of Italian style into your life. La Lollobrigida is a delightful 28-foot vintage speedboat available to hire on New York harbour that will take you back to the days of 1950s Italian movies. Its sleek wooden deck, shiny chrome fixtures and leather upholstery make it a classic of its type. La Lollobrigida was builtin Italy and kept in a marina in Sorrento for more than 50 years, until she was brought to the US and completely restored. She’s called La Lollobrigida because the boatbuilder who constructed her sixty years ago loved the Italian actress Gina Lollobrigida and it is rumoured that she has been aboard it many times.
Approved by the New York Harbour Authority to carry up to four people, it’s the perfect vessel for a romantic date, a great way of showing overseas visitors around New York harbour, or even if you just want to make an impressive arrival somewhere! You can rent it by the hour or for a whole day. La Lollobrigida comes with a uniformed skipper, and refreshments and light meals can be included. If you need to get out of the sun, there is a convertible roof, and there’s also room for sunbathing on the deck. We supply towels and blankets and you can listen to romantic Italian music on our fabulous sound system.
We can arrange pick up from any wharf on the lower Hudson River or New York Harbour. At prices starting from $300 per hour, La Lollobrigida is one of the most economical vessels to hire in New York, despite the glamour it exudes. She can be taken out during the day or in the evening from the beginning of April to the end of October.
So put on your sunglasses, make a toast to la dolce vita (Italian for the sweet life) and take La Lollobrigida out for a spin for the day.

Origami Workshop
The Dokusen Hotel, Tokyo
A Guests at the hotel are invited to participate in a two-hour complementary workshop to learn the basics of the fascinating Japanese tradition of Origami – which is making figures with small pieces of paper just by folding them. Our origami expert, Akiko, will instruct you fold by fold and you will leave the workshop with a flower, a cat, and the most popular of all, the dinosaur.
B Origami is taught to children in Japan to teach them listening, observation and dexterity skills. You will have to listen very closely to the teacher’s instructions. Akiko is very patient and will not rush her pupils, but she does insist on precision. It can be quite a challenge, but you go away with a skill that you can amaze other people with when you get home.
C Each student will also be given a small booklet with illustrated instructions on how to reproduce the figures they have made in the class. You can take some extra pieces of coloured paper with you to practise some more. Many of our guests make origami to pass the time on the flight home!

D This is a particularly fun activity for families, with parents and children creating together and vying to make the most perfect figures. Children and adults alike will be very impressed with what they are able to create in such a short time. And all your creations can be taken with you – easily fitting in your suitcase in the little domed box we give you so the origami will keep their shape.
E. There are cameras set up to make videos or take still photos of your progress that can be downloaded into phones and be put up on social media.
F The lessons are conducted in English every evening at 5 p.m. Ask at the reception desk if you wish to book a place in the class and have the opportunity to learn a little more about Japanese culture.
