The maps below show the changes in a town in Europe after the construction of a hydroelectric power dam. Describe the noticeable changes in the maps.

The two maps illustrate significant changes in a European town before and after the construction of a hydroelectric power dam, comparing the years 1990 and 2010.
In 1990, the area west of the river was mainly forested, containing ancient structures, rare plants, and animals. Villages and irrigated farmlands were situated east of the river. Mountains were located on both sides of the river.
By 2010, notable developments had taken place. The forest and ancient structures on the western side were removed, and a hydroelectric dam was built across the river. A large lake replaced the rare species area, likely flooding that part of the region. Electricity towers and a hotel were added on the eastern side, and the farmland was replaced by infrastructure. The villages remained but were now surrounded by more modern developments.
Overall, the area underwent dramatic transformation, with natural features being replaced by man-made constructions following the dam’s development.
