The bar chart illustrates the number of Australian students studying in five different countries—USA, New Zealand, UK, Germany, and Japan—between 2004 and 2006.
Overall, the USA and New Zealand were the most popular destinations, while Germany and Japan attracted the fewest students. All countries except Japan saw a steady or rising trend in student numbers over the period.
In the USA, student numbers increased gradually from 2,500 in 2004 to 2,800 in 2006. New Zealand experienced a slight but consistent rise from 2,550 to 2,650 students. In contrast, the UK saw a significant increase in 2005 (1,700 from 1,500 in 2004), after which the figure remained stable.
Germany attracted relatively few Australian students, with numbers rising from 150 in 2004 to 200 in 2006. Japan saw a small fluctuation: student numbers increased from 100 to 200 in 2005, but dropped back to 100 in 2006.
