The graph provides information concerning the number of cars that were produced by and brought into various countries around the world in 2011. In general we can distinguish between countries that were large net exporters, namely Germany and Japan, and the other countries which imported more than they made.

It is clear that Germany and Japan were major manufacturing hubs for cars in 2011. They manufactured an extremely large number of cars for foreign markets, with Germany exporting close to $250 billion dollars’ worth of cars, and Japan $150 billion dollars worth.

Both countries imported far fewer than they produced, although it is evident that in Germany there was demand for more imports, as they brought in automobiles valued at just over $100 billion. Japan on the other hand, hardly imported any cars at all, with imports valuing approximately $15 billion.

The remaining three countries imported more cars than they manufactured, however the United States stands out as it imported approximately double the number of cars that it produced. In the cases of the United Kingdom and France the number of imports were only slightly larger than the number of exports.
