It’s kind of hard to say but people that I know around me tend to read the political news because they are interested in what happens in the domestic country and abroad, but maybe for others, they just care more about the sports and fashion events.

Well, if I were to choose between the two, I’ll probably go with reading domestic news because they are closer to home, and affects me more; whereas, you know, international news sometimes have nothing to do with my daily life, so I just read the headlines.

SAMPLE ANSWER
I grew up in a quiet residential neighbourhood located in the outskirts of my city. It was a well-developed area with tree-lined streets, parks, and a mix of modern and traditional houses. The neighbourhood was about a 20-minute drive from the city centre, making it a peaceful yet accessible place to live.
Most of the people in my neighbourhood were middle-class families, professionals, and retirees. It was a close-knit community where everyone knew each other, and children played outside without any worries. There were also a few small shops, a local market, and a community centre where events and festivals were celebrated together.

Living in this neighbourhood was a wonderful experience. The atmosphere was friendly and safe, and there was a strong sense of belonging. I had many childhood friends, and we used to ride bicycles, play in the park, and visit each other’s houses frequently. The area had good schools, clean streets, and easy access to public transport, which made daily life convenient.
If given a chance, I would love to live in this neighbourhood again in the future. It holds many fond memories, and I appreciate the peaceful and family-friendly environment. However, as cities expand and modern lifestyles change, I would also consider other places that offer similar comforts but with better infrastructure and opportunities.

PART – 3 FOLLOW UPS
How has your neighbourhood changed over the years?
Over the years, my neighbourhood has become more developed. There are now more high-rise buildings, shopping malls, and better roads. While these changes have brought more convenience, they have also made the area a bit more crowded compared to when I was a child.
Do you think neighbourhoods are important for people’s social life?
Yes, absolutely. A good neighbourhood helps people build strong social connections. When neighbours interact, celebrate festivals, or help each other in times of need, it creates a sense of community and belonging, which is very important for a happy life.
IELTS Speaking Test
What makes a neighbourhood a good place to live?
A good neighbourhood should be safe, clean, and well-connected to essential facilities like schools, hospitals, and markets. It should also have parks and recreational spaces where people can relax and socialize. Most importantly, a friendly and cooperative community makes a neighbourhood truly special.
Do you think people prefer living in neighbourhoods or isolated houses nowadays?
It depends on personal preferences. Some people enjoy living in neighbourhoods because of the social interactions and convenience. Others prefer isolated houses for privacy and peace. However, with increasing urbanization, more people are choosing apartment complexes with shared facilities.
