IELTS writing task 2 i.e. essay is the most difficult part of the exam because this task is the major huddle in the way of clearing the exam. Understanding of the topic is quintessential.
The most important thing before starting the writing is to understand the question statement. If you able to do this then your half of the stumbling block can be sorted out. If you have done enough practice of writing tasks then it will be easier for you to identify whether it is an opinion essay or a discussion essay or solution for a particular issue. Sometimes, applicants just read the task like it’s about environment protection, technology or so on and start writing, which leads to a weak task response. So, try to fulfill the expectations of the examiner by providing appropriate ideas.
Plan your content before writing.
Before starting writing especially task 2, give your 5-7 minutes toplan as well as organize your content as it will help you a lot. Firstly, you can write all the ideas, which are coming in your mind according to the given topic, on the paper in the form of bullet points. It is more convenient to make three columns on paper by marking the lines: first one for main ideas, second one for explanation and third one for giving a result (outcome). Apart from it, it also saves your time because when you write by following the planning then there is no need to think about ideas as ideas are already cleared in our mind plus on paper, even you can focus just on presentation.

As we know task response is one of the prominent parameters for achieving good scoring in writing. But it is only possible when applicants have depth knowledge about the various topics, because we don’t know which kind of topic will come in examination. Sometimes, students feel nervous, when they see unfamiliar topic in examination such as military, space exploration and so on. For avoiding such kind of difficulties, try to write the essays on various sort of topics. Along with this, you can read the general articles, which are based on current affairs, it helps not only to enhance the vocabulary but also ideas, that you can use as main content plus examples. Furthermore, learn the way of representing the ideas with coherence and cohesion by using wide range of connectors to acquire a big score.
Learn the time management skills
In IELTS test, time management is must, because you have to accomplish your both tasks 1 and 2 in an hour. It can be possible with some methodologies such as: firstly, divide your time accordingly, give your 5-7 minutes for planning. Then try to write within 2-25 minutes (task 2). in that manner, you will be able to complete your task within 50-55 min, by which proof reading can be done to overcome the silly mistakes whether these are about spell error or punctuations or grammatical. As we know it is very common to make mistakes when we are in hurry.
Develop your vocab range
It is also one of the parameters, which plays a great role not only in writing but also in speaking. But there is a difference: in speaking, only informal plus idiomatic languages are used. On the other hand, if we talk about writing, some formal along with heavy or longer words are more appropriate to get higher scoring. There are two things, on which need to focus, avoid repetition of words especially most common such as help, important, facilities etc. and the latter one is to be familiar with some uncommon plus new words. This can be developed by reading more and more books, articles, which also aid you to know the write utilization of words.
