Formal passages
In general training IELTS the passages are more formal the language used in the passages has a specific meaning the students have to read the paragraph very thoroughly to decode the answers. The language used in a systematic manner that the student has to read the full paragraph for finding the correct answer. The words in the passage are easy to understandable but somewhere some complex and tricky sentences have been used to confuse the students. These help the students to skim through the paragraph very easily and leaving very few sentences to choose from the paragraphs. Student’s can also find the familiar words so they can focus on synonyms of the words in the shorter paragraphs.
Band criteria is different
The band criteria of the GT reading is different as compared to the academic reading as the topics given to GT students are generally based on general interest such as newspapers, advertisements and other notices. On the contrary the academic one’s topics are based on university studies and professional institutions due to this the general reading is quite easier but the points are different due to the technicality of the topic as the GT students have much exposure of the outer world so the band criteria is one bar above than the academic students so that’s why the students find the band criteria of GT reading different from its counterpart.

Time distribution
The time distribution of the IELTS GT reading test varies from the academic reading as in GT reading 60 minutes have been allotted by the examiner and the student have to devote 20 minutes to the task 1 as the task next 40minutes for the task 2. As the first task is simpler and easier on the other hand the second task is quite complex and difficult so the students have to put extra efforts and stress on second passage to decode the answer from the passage. The time distribution is very integral in the reading task as If the student can be unable to do the proper organization of time then the probability of scoring the satisfactory marks can decrease. Time distribution and time management are very important aspects of reading module.

Simple language
The language of the GT reading is quite simpler than the academic reading as the words and in the sentences may have variation in it but one can easily understand it by reading it. Simple language is somehow used but the sentences and answers are hidden in a very complicated and the complex manner it is done with intention by the examiner because they know that the GT students can get trapped in the trap by the examiner. The simple language is also helpful for the sincere students as they can easily grab the context of the test and score the satisfactory marks in the final examination.
