UKVI IELTS
The UK government has officially approved the English Language Test known as IELTS for UKVI. When submitting an application for UK Visa and Immigration (UKVI), it enables candidates to show that they are fluent in the language. The UK government has reaffirmed that IELTS is a reliable language exam for obtaining a visa.
You must take the IELTS exam for UKVI if you intend to study, work, or relocate to the country. Only IELTS test results are accepted for UKVI by universities, colleges, and professional associations. Regular IELTS scores won’t be taken into account.
The UK Home Office has established a list of Secure English Language Tests (SELT tests) that candidates must pass in order to be eligible for a variety of visa categories.

What are the Different IELTS Tests for the UK?
For UKVI, three types of IELTS test are available: Academic, General training and Life Skills. Each of these is discussed below:
IELTS Academic | This test is for individuals who wish to study at Undergraduate or Postgraduate levels and also for those who want a professional registration in the UK. |
IELTS General Training | This is for individuals who want to migrate to the UK under certain visa categories and also for those who want to study for a course below the degree level. |
IELTS Life Skills A1 | This test is for those who want to apply for “family of settled person” visas. |
IELTS Life Skills A2 | This test is for those individuals who want to apply for an extension to family or spouse visas. |
IELTS Life Skills B1 | This test is for individuals who want an indefinite leave to remain or citizenship. |
To verify the legitimacy of the test taker, IELTS for UKVI just adheres to additional security standards, without altering the content, format, level of difficulty, or scoring system. Furthermore, there’s a chance that your Test Report Form (TRF) won’t look exactly like the standard IELTS form.
The language proficiency requirements established by their university or college must be met by applicants for the Tier 4 Student visa; others can use this table as a reference to determine the score required to qualify:
