It’s like dream comes true if an IELTS aspirant achieve 8.5 bands in IELTS. Normally students achieve 6 or 6.5 band score in the exam and it seems bit harder for them to score more than 8. To make easy to hit the target of 8+ we are here with some tips and tricks to help you achieve 8.5 bands in IELTS.
How to start
First of all, before looking at the questions what you need to do is to look at the passage and take an overview of it. After taking an observation of the passage then read the question, the reason behind this strategy is that if you have already taken an idea of the passage then you might know that which paragraph is about what, hence, when finding the location it will consume less time. You can even give a title to each paragraph by your own. If you already know that what is mentioned in distinct paragraphs, it would be easier for you to understand the question and locate the answer effectively.
How to deal with difficult questions
When you find a question difficult, confusing then what you might do is just leave that question and move to the next question. You consider those questions easy, whose answer you can find in less possible time. Therefore, when you are done with the easy questions first and you are leaving the difficult questions then you may get more time at the end to solve difficult questions. Hence, if you are unable to find an answer just move on to the next question and after come back to the previous question.
TRUE/FALSE/NOT GIVEN
When doing YES/NO/NOT GIVEN question type or TRUE/FALSE/NOT GIVEN question type, you should never get confused between No and not given. You find the exact opposite or contradiction of a statement and the question then the answer is No. On the other hand, if partial or complete information is missing from the text that is mentioned in the question, then the answer would be not given. In case or true or yes the question and the information in the passage is mentioned clearly and matches with each other but there might be some synonyms to confuse you. You must take care of such words with similar meanings.
Always remember to write the answers in right place
It is crucial and obvious to check that whether you have written the answers at their correct places or not. You should always check your answers. Sometimes you may write the correct answer but at different place, which would result in the deduction of your scores. For instance, the answer of question 21 was option C and the answer of question 22 was option B, but you mixed both the answers, you were clear in your mind but in a hurry you wrote the answers at wrong places. Hence, your both answers will be marked incorrect. So you should always take care of the fact that you should write the answer at the correct place only.
You can guess the answer
If you are unable to find the answer then what can help you is guessing. You should never leave the answering space blank, what you need to do is to just make a guess. As there is no negative marking in IELTS test. No matter if your answer is wrong but still there are chances of it being correct if you have written something.
Avoid rethinking the answers
You should avoid rechecking your answers again and again. Sometimes you may write incorrect answer after erasing the correct one, because of thinking too much about a particular answer. Consequently, it will reduce your scores.
