There are plenty of sentences which are over used by the candidates and are considered learned expressions. As cramming is also comes into determination when it comes to the repetition of something, so there are number of sentences which are used by the candidates often.

Phrases to avoid in your task
“This essay will discuss both the sides before concluding with an opinion”
This sentence can be considered as the mediocre as this is used in the thesis statement but it doesn’t include main point. This only repeat the instruction rather it does not clear the point of the essay. This sentence is only of the 12 words which is crammed by the most of students.
You can put efforts to add sentences like “I shall put forth my arguments to support my views in the following paragraphs”.
“Owing to development of science and technology”
Number of students prefer to use this sentence as they consider this one is good approach. But it’s appropriate use can only be understood in the essay type of science and technology.
Most of the students are seen of using this sentence in their essays, but the sentences often creates confusion to the examiner that the given statement is of another topic and the student has represented it in another way. Therefore, it is very clear that it is a learned a phrase which students are using for any type of essay which is most likely to modernisation.

“In this contemporary era/modern era”
This sentences often repeated by number of candidates. This is the most overused sentence.
Just paraphrase the information given and start drafting your essay. Rather than wasting the time on the over used phrases like in the contemporary era, since the dawn time, nowadays. Most essay questions are about current issues so you don’t need to put in a time frame unless it is about an issue in the past compared to the present.
“In a nutshell”
This idiom is also often used by the candidates but they need to know that this is the informal expression which cannot be used in the formal writing task 2.
Rather than using the idiom. In the conclusion, you can write your conclusion with “to sum up, to conclude.”

In students essays, it is seen that students often write the example learn to from different data’s and already mention resources. But you need to know that in academic essay, you need to represent a situation relating to your essay. So, an example which you are writing should be relatable to the essay.
