That is why, it is more fruitful, if we have some Reading strategies for acquiring the best scores.

1. Skimming and scanning– it indicates that there is no need to read the whole content in depth, as approximately 2700-3000 words are read by the IELTS giver for locating the wanted refinement. That is hard nut to crack for students, so just go through the content as well as underline the main data such as any year, the name of someone, italic or bold words or most importantly, the keywords which may same as the given question statement. When you will find the correct answers then it will be easier for you to find the suitable location without wasting time.

2. Understanding of the demand of the question is quintessential- as sometimes, students just read the question and immediately start reading the full passages, even without reading the given instructions like whether the demand of the question is in numbers or words or how many words or an adjective or noun or verb and so on. That is the crucial part to obtain high scores. Otherwise, it is just wastage of time, in spite of putting 100% efforts.

3. Role of grammar- grammar plays a vital role in reading, as knowledge of the common grammar rules is cardinal. For example, it is very common that “to” is followed by first form of verb, while “for “is followed by first form of verb plus “ing”. That is why, if you know such things then you can make the changes while putting the answer in blanks, because sometimes we find not only the exact location but also the answer, but owing to lack of grammar knowledge, they put the word as they find from the content and that goes wrong.

4. The worth of vocabulary – it is the fact that reading contains a lot of heavy words, that we do not use in our real life. So usually we get confused after seeing those words.while if you know the way of knowing the meaning of those words then it will be casual for you to translate the content for procuring correct answer.  guess the meaning of the words from ascending and descending words, without any qualms, it requires practice and guidance as much as you can get. Furthermore, don’t underestimate the words like always, sometimes, mainly, often, certain, few, a few and so on, as we know these are very common in reading but we often ignore and it changes the sense.
