So you have good news as today we will discuss some magical tips that will help you to boost your score from 6 to 7+ bands.

1. Be fast in reading

The main problem that test takers face is running out of time during the IELTS Reading test to manage it is to focus on your techniquesand keep in mind that you have 60 minutes to answer 40 questions that are stretched in three different sections and they are quite long to read in a  leisure way. To finish the whole test in time you should be able to read at speed, it does not mean that you should understand each and every word of the paragraph. Often, answering the questions depends on your ability to identify the area where you can find your answer and you don’t require reading everything in depth. For this you should opt the scanning and skimming method as it will save your time. However, if you don’t find any answer don’t just stick to it as it will consume your precious time so leave it and move forward.

2. Answer all the questions

You should answer all the 40 questions in the IELTS reading test and should not leave any question unanswered. You must be thinking that I am contradicting myself as in point 1 I told you to leave the question if you don’t find answer for it. No, I am not on the wrong track I mean that in the final minutes before the end of the reading test put an answer that seems logical to you or suits the requirements of the question or you can simply go with the guess work. Remember that you do not lose points for giving the wrong answer, so there’s no harm in taking an educated guess!

3. Identify a particular question type which you think is difficult for you

During your practice sessions try to know your weaknesses by this you will be able to work more on them. Most of the students get stuck on summary completion style questions and True, False, Not Given questions try to understand them better for this you can take help from your mentor or even you can go online to seek simple approaches to different question types.

4. Don’t panic to see a new word

Many times the answer gets wrong as you don’t get the meaning of any specific word. In this type of situation it is natural to get confused and nervous but this should be avoided and you must stay calm and steady. You should read the sentence twice or thrice and try to identify the purpose of the word which you do not understand and you will definitely get the meaning according to the sense of the sentence.

5. Make good use of the title and any subheadings that are in the reading passage

Most of the reading sections have a title, illustrations and subheadings make sure to spend some time looking at them as they will often give you a good idea of what the text is referring to.

6.  Read the instructions carefully

If you want to score 7+ in IELTS reading test it is mandatory to read the instructions given before every question and you should strictly follow them for example if it is said NO MORE THAN TWO WORDS than your answer should be maximum of two words and if it get to three your answer will be marked wrong.
