Grass roots: Ordinary people in a society, as opposed to those who are in power.

Sentence: The leadership needs to hear first-hand what grass-roots members are thinking.

Pessimism: a tendency to see the worst aspect of things or believe that the worst
will happen.

Sentence: “the dispute cast an air of deep pessimism over the future of the peace talks”

Fussy eater: Someone who is very picky about the food and doesn’t eat everything.

Sentence: My husband is a fussy eater, and he’s never pleased with my cooking.

Take-away: A meal prepared in a café/restaurant and eaten at home.

Sentence: I’m going to ring the Japanese restaurant and order a takeaway.

ADEQUATE- Ample, sufficient

AWARE- Mindful, Conscious

Sentence – Everybody is aware of the hazards of smoking

Fetch – bring

Sentence – I had to fetch water from the well.
