The thing that can make your speaking impressive and convey your ideas and views properly is effective communication. The key to achieve this is well organized answers so today we will give some Tips to deliver well Organized answer in IELTS Speaking.

Think before you start

Thinking for a while before answering a question is very important. First of all listen to the question carefully than think for a while to organize and formulate your ideas than start speaking.

Keep in mind that you should take few movements to think and organize your thoughts and not too long. If you will keep quiet for a long time the examiner can start the next question. So even if you are not able to organize your answer speak whatever is in your mind rather than sitting silently.

Use your preparation time wisely

In part 2 (cue card) of the IELTS speaking test a topic is given on which you have to speak for 2 minutes and 1 minute is given for preparation. A paper and a pencil will be provided to organize and note your ideas. In this given 60 second you should think, organize, and take a few notes, which you can refer to when you speak. Always remember to read and answer all the bullet points accurately if anyone of them remained untouched your scores will be deducted. To know how to prepare the cue card click here.

Use linkers and connectors

Linkers and connectors like so, then, first, second, because, therefore, next, finally (and many more) make your speaking well organized. For example, if you finish a sentence or one of your view it is necessary that your listener should know that you are moving to a new point and it can be indicated by using moving on to another point, finishing your thoughts, giving a reason, making an argument, etc.

Ask if you are not sure about the question

It is necessary to understand the question properly for delivering an organized answer. So if you are not sure about the question or a word in the question you can ask the examiner to repeat the question or explain it briefly. Thing here to remember is that the examiner is not allowed to give detailed explanation. You can ask the examiner to repeat or explain only once or twice during the test not more than that.

Practice!

In IELTS practice is the key to success and you should practice a lot before appearing in the exam. You can practice with sample answers and look for new topics on internet. During these sessions you are recommended to do time bond practice so that you can get habitual for the real exam situation. You can do recordings of your practice sessions and by listening them you can identify and rectify your mistakes.

A few final suggestions to keep in mind about your speaking exam:

• Keep talking – In IELTS speaking test your speaking skills are judged so it is necessary to speak continuously. You should not stop talking until the examiner say you to do so as if you stop you will lose the opportunity to show your speaking ability.

• Be creative – If you get an unfamiliar topic about which you have no experience create a story of your own. It is true that it is easier to share your own experience as we can go in detail but when you don’t have anything to say use your creativity and narrate a story. It’s better to say something than sitting quietly.

Good luck preparing for your speaking exam.

Thank You 🙂
