#2 At least 2-3 Sentences answer:
In IELTS speaking test-Part 1 typically, your answers should be between one to two sentences. But you answer them with just Yes or No. You can be direct with your answer and then you should add a bit more information to your answer. Let’s try to understand this with an example:
Question: Do you like to party?
Answer: I prefer to party (direct answer), as I’m a very social person and like to interact with other people.(extension)
#3 Don’t memorize your answers:
The examiner is pro in his job, he can judge from the intonation of your voice whether you have memorized your answers or not. So, make sure you don’t memorize your answers as the examiner wants to test your ability to speak naturally. Memorized answers do not come across as natural speaking and this will be impact your score.

#4 Relax and stay calm:
Chances are when you first walk into the room, your heart will be racing as you will be nervous. If you control your emotions and physical response half the battle is won as, when we are panic and nervous our mind and thoughts are not clear and we don’t feel confident. So, before you begin, take two to three deep breaths to get your heart rate back to normal and calm yourself before you begin.
Practice is the key to all your questions. The more you practice the better you will get. So, keep practicing day and night. It will increase your speech and confidence. There are various ways of practicing your speech such as find a friend and practice with them. Practice in front of a mirror. Record yourself and listen after. But whatever, you do, give yourself lots of speaking practice.

#5: Stay on Topic:
Due to nervousness many candidates simply forget to answer the question. They are able to speak but it has nothing to do with the topic. Listen carefully and answer the question accordingly.
#6 Examiner can interrupt you:
It’s absolutely OK if he wants to interrupt you in between. The examiner is on a very tight time schedule if he or she wants they may interrupt you in order to keep the test on pace. So, don’t think that if you are interrupted by examiner that means you are doing something wrong.
#7 Overall Knowledge:
You can’t cover all the topics as no one has an idea what questions you’re going to get, but that shouldn’t matter. Usually all the topics can be related to your life in some way. So, all you have to do is talk about your personal experiences. Practice sharing your day to day experience with your friends and family.
#8 It’s OK to give negative answers:
Sometimes students feel that they need to give a positive or affirmative answer to everything. But that isn’t the case with real life and it’s the same with the exam.
Honesty is the best policy here. If your answer to an examiners question is no, then feel free to say so, and then as always, add a little bit more reasoning or some examples.
#9 Don’t get diverted:
When you’re taking the exam if you have made some mistakes don’t keep thinking about it, 2-3 mistakes are ok but what is coming up next focus on those questions and be alert. If your mind is not present in the exam you will make more mistakes. So, be present in that moment and answer the question accordingly. Stay positive and focused is the key to perform good in IELTS speaking test.
Thank You 🙂
