IELTS READING TIPS FOR TRUE/FALSE/NOT GIVEN – IMPERATIVE TIPS

This type is considered to be the most difficult and challenging type of reading section. This type is often seen in both the types of IELTS whether it is Academic or General. Understanding part should be strong of the person must be brilliant and than only it would be easier for you to solve this type.

Let’s acknowledge in detail:

TRUE – One can find information when the information of passage and it agrees with the given question.

FALSE – When passage and statement is totally different. The passage depicts given is incorrect. It also includes one mistake because paragraphs shows what it must be.

NOT GIVEN – This situation is when you can’t find information at all or paragraphs contain insufficient knowledge means the information is not true and false.

PARAPHRASING

Whenever you see these questions so you mist prepare yourself to face paraphrase statement. This type is formed with complexity so you will encounter number of paraphrases. You must familiarise yourself with the with range of vocabulary.

MEANING OF WORDS

Don’t look for meaning. As you are not going to find the similarities in this type. Number of students just try to fetch the similar words when they read the statements. You need to lay focus on the stated information while you solve this type. Once in a blue moon it occurs that you may get similar words but not often. Most often those words are used which even don’t have similar meanings.

Not Given and False (No)

Not Given means the entire statement is not given in the passage. Maybe part of the statement is given but not the whole statement. Watch out for that!! Try to find the whole meaning in the passage.

False means the passage contradicts the statement. Don’t forget you are not just looking for an opposite meaning, you are also looking for contradicting information.

Now, it’s the time to read the different tips for True/False/Not Given – Vital Tips.

Scrutinise the statement at prior rather than reading the text.

Number of words are different means synonyms are more (Analyzing – scrutinize, examine).

Match meaning instead of words. Few words of the passage are same but it doesn’t mean the answer is true.

If the answer is false or no means the information is different than the text. This means passage information is different and the statement meaning is also different.

Not Given states that the whole information is not available and nothing matches in the text and passage.

When you transfer the answers must jot down in clear handwriting.

This type always comes in order other might not come. So, for time saving you should go with the order reading rather wasting time in locating words.

Memorise different words while you read paraphrasing statements. One can make list of words.
