How to prepare for IELTS?

The best way to prepare for any upcoming exam is to plan ahead of time. Whenever you have made up your mind regarding which course you want to pursue and in which college you want to choose to do your degree and all other criteria’s such as weather, fees, job placement etc.  After you have made up your mind than the next step is preparing for your exam. As you make an IELTS study plan, it can be helpful to think of your IELTS study hours in terms of weekly time spent. After all, you probably already know how much time you’re spending per week on other activities, such as work and school. Look at your existing weekly time commitments and figure out how much IELTS prep time you can fit in alongside your other responsibilities.

You obviously don’t want to commit yourself to more weekly IELTS hours than you can handle. But you should also make sure that you do giveample time to IELTS study per week. You need to invest good amount of time to improve your English skills. It can be done with giving enough time very day on all the modules. Your hours should be distributed equally for studying and practicing all different modules. Generally, I recommend a minimum of five hours per week of IELTS study, but can always increase your hours as per your requirement. The ideal time to invest to boost your English Language should be minimum 10-15 hours per week. But not everyone can invest that much hours of IELTS preparation and not everyone needs that much time. Some might need to just brush up their skills. So, it really depends upon.

If we talk about regular practice, it’s advisable not to group all of your IELTS study hours into just one or two days of the week. If you will too much gap in your practice days, you will actual get out of practice. Now let’s talk about next “big question” for today…

How many hours should I study for the IELTS per day?

As already discussed above I think 5 hours of study for IELTS preparation is more than enoughbut do it everyday rather than doing it in one to two day.

I recommend at least an hour per day individual study session as IELTS study sessions always involve some warm up. It’s always better to stay in touch and keep practicing every day.  You may start at a slower pace, but as you keep practicing everyday your speed will start to improve and you can see a visible difference. The best way to boost English language skills is through abundant and regular practice.

Studying for more than 80 minutes or more in a day isn’t an option for everyone. It can be quite difficult to give so much time to your IELTS study if you are attending university or working full time. If your regular workday or school day doesn’t leave you time for 90 minutes or more of IELTS study, try to reserve some time for lengthy study on the weekends. For example, if you can plan to  study10 hours a week, you could study an hour a day during the week, and then four hours each on Saturday and Sunday. And at sixteen hours a week, you could study two hours per weekday, and then do six hours of review over the weekend. There is no replacement for hard work so, keep on working hard and improve your score by practicing daily.

THANK YOU 🙂
