IELTS GENERAL WRITING TASK 1
IELTS GENERAL WRITING TASK 1
You live in a small apartment building with a parking lot in back, and you often cannot find an empty parking space when you get home from work.
Write a letter to your landlord. In your letter
• describe the situation.
• explain why it bothers you.
• suggest something the landlord could do to solve the problem.
SAMPLE ANSWER
Dear Mr. Jones,
I am writing to tell you about the parking problem at our building. I frequently have trouble finding a place to park. Something has to be done about this.
Often when I get home from work, the parking lot is full. There are supposed to be enough spaces in the lot for each tenant to park one car. If the lot is full, that means other people are using our spaces or some tenants have more than one car.
When I can’t find space in the parking lot, I have to park on the street. I don’t like to do this because I work late and I don’t like walking on the street alone at night.
I would like to offer some suggestions for solving this problem. First, you could post some signs in the lot explaining that it is for building tenants only. In addition, you could assign each apartment a space and paint the apartment number on it. That way, each tenant will always have his or her own place to park.
Please let me know what you think of my ideas.
Sincerely,
