SAMPLE ANSWER
In many cultures, people spend a colossal amount of money on wedding parties and other occasions. Due to increased pressure from the society, mindless competition and in a race to show off one’s wealth and affluence, people go to great extents while organising wedding ceremonies. In my opinion, such massive expenditure is futile and the same money can be utilised for personal growth, acquiring required assets or could be donated for noble causes.
Wedding ceremonies often have been the cause of concern for ordinary, middle and low income group families, especially in underdeveloped or developing countries. Parents save over years and spend all their savings on a function that lasts a few hours or days. Those who do not have enough savings resort to taking loans or sell off assets just to ensure that the wedding party is organised perfectly. This, however, puts an unnecessary financial burden on families and can lead to undue stress.
Conversely, the same amount of money can be optimally utilised for productive ventures. One could invest in education, travel or purchase assets that could prove to be fruitful in future. The money could also be saved for a rainy day or for future medical expenses in case of any unforeseen adversities. Also, in a world where many are homeless, poor and face abject hunger, such wastage of money is uncalled for. If an individual has more than what they require, they can donate through government and non-government organisations to mitigate the suffering of the impoverished.
In conclusion, it can be said that wedding ceremonies should be focused on celebrating the union of two people instead of the unrefined show of opulence witnessed on the special day. It should be celebrated with close friends and family rather than being presented as a theatrical for multitudes who do not even know the couple well.
