IELTS WRITING TASK 2
Many people believe that the increasing use of modern technology at work and in leisure is reducing people’s creativity. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
SAMPLE AMSWER
It is often argued that an increase in the use of advanced high-tech tools to assist people’s work and daily lives is harming their creativity. In my opinion, I largely agree with this perspective.
The first reason I hold this view is that relying on AI is diminishing people’s ability to think independently. For instance, many students tend to ask AI for answers rather than seeking information in academic books. This
reliance can lead to the acquisition of misinformation and contribute to a decline in critical thinking skills. It highlights the importance of verifying the accuracy of information sources. If young people become accustomed to this method of researching information, it may become increasingly difficult for them to break this habit as they grow older.
Furthermore, fragmented attention caused by the constant bombardment of short videos can negatively impact cognitive function. This reduction in attention span may furtherstifle creativity.
On the other hand, some may view modern technology as a beneficial tool for enhancing creativity. One compelling argument is that AI tools can help
Visualize ideas through simple coding, thereby allowing those without artistic training to bring their imagination to life. However, it remains undeniable that the pervasive use of technological assistance significantly affects our world, especially when we consider the rapid pace at which it spreads.
In conclusion, after evaluating both sides of the argument, it is clear that while there are some benefits to heavily relying on technology, the detrimental impact on human creativity is an important concern.
