SAMPLE ANSWER
Gift-giving is a common tradition across cultures, especially during birthdays and special occasions. While some argue that expensive gifts reflect love and commitment, others believe that thoughtful yet inexpensive gifts are more meaningful. Both perspectives hold merit.
Those in favor of expensive gifts argue that they symbolize the giver’s effort and generosity. In certain cultures or families, costly presents may be seen as a status symbol or a way to make someone feel truly special. Moreover, luxury items can have a lasting value and may be remembered more vividly.
On the other hand, many believe that the value of a gift should not be measured by its price tag. A handmade item, a heartfelt letter, or even quality time can convey genuine emotions without being expensive. This view promotes a more personal and sustainable approach to gift-giving, avoiding unnecessary financial burden.
In my opinion, the thought and effort behind a gift matter far more than its cost. A simple gift that suits the receiver’s interests or shows that the giver knows them well can be more touching than an extravagant item bought in haste. Celebrations should be about connection, not competition.
In conclusion, while expensive gifts can sometimes make an impact, they are not a necessity. A well-chosen, meaningful gift—regardless of price—often leaves a deeper emotional imprint and reflects true appreciation.
