SAMPLE ANSWER
Modern technology is undeniably transforming our world in many ways, and one of its most profound impacts is the creation of a more interconnected global society. I agree with the statement that modern technology is contributing to the formation of a single world culture, although this process is complex and not absolute. There are several reasons for this trend.
First, the rise of the internet and social media has drastically increased global communication. Platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube allow people from different countries to share content instantly, often adopting and adapting each other’s fashion, music, and lifestyles. For example, the global popularity of K-pop and Korean dramas is a result of digital platforms that make Korean culture accessible to audiences worldwide. Similarly, English has become a dominant language in digital spaces, influencing communication norms and expressions globally.
Second, multinational companies and global advertising contribute to cultural homogenization. Brands like McDonald’s, Starbucks, and Apple are found in cities across the world, often promoting a similar experience regardless of location. These brands not only standardize consumer behavior but also introduce similar values, such as convenience, individualism, and innovation.
However, it is also important to note that local cultures continue to persist and even thrive alongside global influences. Technology can also be a tool for preserving and promoting unique cultural identities. For instance, indigenous communities now use digital platforms to share their traditions and languages with wider audiences.
In conclusion, while modern technology is facilitating the emergence of a more unified world culture, this does not mean local cultures are disappearing. Rather, we are witnessing a blending of global and local influences—a process often referred to as “globalization.” Nonetheless, the trend toward cultural convergence is unmistakable, and modern technology is at the heart of this transformation.
