SAMPLE ANSWER
In modern society, there is an ongoing debate about whether individuals are becoming more dependent on each other or increasingly independent. While some argue that technological advancements and globalization have fostered greater interdependence, others believe that people are now more self-sufficient than ever. This essay will discuss both perspectives before presenting my own opinion.
On the one hand, many believe that individuals are becoming more dependent on one another due to the complexities of modern life. With globalization, economies are interconnected, making individuals rely on various industries and services. Moreover, technological advancements have increased dependence on digital platforms for communication, education, and employment. Socially, people depend on online communities for emotional and professional support, highlighting the growing need for interconnectedness. Additionally, urban living has reinforced dependence on shared resources such as public transport, healthcare, and food supply chains.
On the other hand, some argue that individuals are becoming more independent due to advancements in technology and changing social values. The rise of remote work and online learning allows individuals to manage their careers and education without relying on institutions. Furthermore, automation and smart technology have reduced the need for human assistance in daily tasks. In terms of social interactions, modern lifestyles promote self-reliance, with people prioritizing personal goals over community obligations.
In my opinion, while certain aspects of life have encouraged independence, overall, individuals are becoming more interdependent. The interconnected global economy, reliance on technology, and shared responsibilities in society indicate that people need each other more than ever. True independence is limited in a world where collaboration and support systems are essential for progress.
In conclusion, although technology fosters self-sufficiency in some areas, individuals are ultimately more dependent on each other in modern society.
