SAMPLE ANSWER
One of the TV series I absolutely love is Stranger Things, a science-fiction drama created by the Duffer Brothers. It’s an American series that first came out on Netflix in 2016, and since then, it has gained a massive global fanbase. The show is set in a small town called Hawkins during the 1980s, and it brilliantly combines mystery, horror, and friendship in a very engaging way.

The story begins when a young boy named Will Byers suddenly disappears under mysterious circumstances. His mother, played by Winona Ryder, becomes desperate to find him. Around the same time, a strange girl with supernatural powers, known as Eleven, appears. As the story unfolds, a group of Will’s friends discovers that their town is hiding dark secrets, including a parallel dimension called “the Upside Down.” The show keeps you hooked with every episode because of its suspense, emotional storytelling, and unexpected twists.
The main actors, especially Millie Bobby Brown, who plays Eleven, deliver incredibly powerful performances. She portrays emotions like fear, loneliness, and courage with such depth that it’s hard not to connect with her character. The child actors’ friendship and teamwork are also very heartwarming and remind viewers of their own childhood adventures.
I really enjoy Stranger Things because it has the perfect mix of excitement, nostalgia, and emotional storytelling. I grew up watching old movies from the 1980s, so the music, fashion, and overall vibe of the show feel very familiar to me. Moreover, it’s not just about monsters or supernatural events—it also explores strong human emotions like friendship, loyalty, and sacrifice. Every time I watch it, I find something new to appreciate, whether it’s the clever dialogues, the background music, or the stunning visual effects.

PART – 3
Why do people enjoy watching TV series?
People enjoy TV series for many reasons. Firstly, they provide an escape from daily stress and allow people to experience different worlds or emotions. Secondly, watching a series helps people bond with others who share the same interests. For example, fans often discuss plot twists or characters online. Moreover, long-running series allow viewers to grow emotionally attached to characters over time, making it feel like they’re part of the story.
How have people’s TV-watching habits changed in recent years?
The biggest change is the rise of streaming platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Disney+. In the past, people had to wait for weekly episodes on television, but now they can watch an entire season in one go. This “binge-watching” culture has become very common. Additionally, people can now watch shows on their phones, laptops, or tablets, which makes it more convenient. The shift from traditional cable TV to on-demand streaming has completely transformed viewing habits.
IELTS SPEAKING TEST
Do you think watching TV is good or bad for children?
It really depends on what kind of content children are exposed to. Educational shows can help children learn new things and develop creativity. However, if they watch too much violence or inappropriate content, it can negatively affect their behaviour and mindset. Parents should monitor what their children watch and set limits on screen time. Moderation and the right kind of content are key.
Why do some people prefer watching foreign TV series?
Many people prefer foreign TV series because they offer fresh ideas, better production quality, and new perspectives. For instance, Korean dramas are known for their emotional storytelling, while American shows are often full of creativity and advanced visual effects. Watching foreign series also helps people learn about different cultures and sometimes even improve their language skills.
Do you think TV series can influence people’s lifestyle or thinking?
Yes, definitely. Many TV series reflect social issues or promote certain values, which can shape the way people think. For example, shows about equality, friendship, or mental health raise awareness and encourage positive change. On the other hand, some series might create unrealistic expectations about life or relationships. So, while TV can be very influential, viewers should be mindful and think critically about what they watch.
