IELTS SPEAKING TEST

The first time I talked in a foreign language was when I was about 15 years old. It happened during a school exchange program where our school had invited students from Germany. We were asked to interact in English because it was the common language.

I remember it was in our school library, which had been arranged for this activity. I spoke with a German student named Lukas, who was very friendly and eager to learn about our culture. Initially, I felt extremely nervous because I wasn’t confident in my English speaking skills. I worried that I might make mistakes or not understand him.

However, as soon as we started talking about hobbies, school life, and music, I began to feel more comfortable. Lukas was patient and encouraged me to continue speaking even when I hesitated. By the end of our conversation, I felt proud and excited because I had successfully communicated in a foreign language. That experience gave me confidence to speak English more often, both in school and in everyday situations.

That moment taught me that speaking a foreign language for the first time is always challenging, but it’s also very rewarding. It motivated me to improve my language skills and made me more open to meeting people from different countries.

Do you like learning foreign languages?
Yes, I really enjoy learning foreign languages. They allow me to communicate with people from different cultures and understand their way of life. I also find it mentally stimulating because it improves memory and problem-solving skills.

What is the most difficult part of learning a foreign language?
I think the hardest part is speaking fluently without fear of making mistakes. Grammar and vocabulary can be learned with practice, but building confidence to speak in front of others takes time.

How can people become good at speaking foreign languages?
People can become good by practicing regularly, listening to native speakers, and not being afraid to make mistakes. Engaging in conversations, watching movies, or even thinking in that language can help a lot.

Have you had any other experiences speaking in a foreign language?
Yes, after that first experience, I started participating in online language exchange programs and speaking with international friends. Each conversation has improved my confidence and vocabulary.
