IELTS SPEAKING TEST
PART – 1
What is your full name?
My full name is Surinder Kaur, but most of my friends and colleagues just call me Surinder.
Does your name have any special meaning?
Yes, it does. In my culture, “Surinder” means “the greatest of gods,” and “Kaur” is a traditional name used by Sikh women, meaning “princess.”
Who gave you your name?
My parents chose my name shortly after I was born. They wanted something that reflected both tradition and strength.
Do people in your country usually have nicknames?
Yes, definitely. In my country, it’s common for family and friends to give nicknames as a sign of affection. For example, I’m often called “Suri” by my close friends.
Do you like your name?
Yes, I really like my name because it connects me to my cultural roots and has a positive meaning.
Are robots common in your country?
Robots are becoming more common, especially in industries like manufacturing and healthcare. However, they’re not yet very common in daily life.
Would you like to have a robot at home?
Yes, I would love to have one, especially to help with household chores like cleaning or cooking. It would save a lot of time.
IELTS SPEAKING TEST
Do you think robots are useful?
Absolutely. Robots can perform repetitive tasks efficiently and reduce human error. They’re also useful in dangerous jobs like space exploration or bomb disposal.
Do you think robots can replace humans in the future?
Not completely. Robots can handle routine or physical tasks, but they lack emotions, creativity, and critical thinking — qualities that only humans have.
Have you ever seen a real robot?
Yes, I once saw a robot in a shopping mall that could greet people and provide directions. It was quite fascinating to watch.

-And explain what you have learned from it
SAMPLE ANSWER
One of my favourite TV serials is “Anupamaa”, which is a very popular Indian family drama. The show revolves around the life of a middle-aged woman named Anupamaa, who dedicates her entire life to her family but receives little appreciation in return.
IELTS SPEAKING TEST
The main characters are Anupamaa, her husband Vanraj, and her close friend Anuj. The story beautifully portrays Anupamaa’s emotional journey as she discovers her own identity, starts working, and gains confidence to stand on her own feet.
I really like this serial because it gives a strong message about women empowerment and self-respect. It also reflects real-life situations that many people can relate to. The acting, dialogues, and emotional depth make it very engaging.
From this serial, I have learned that it’s never too late to follow your dreams and that every individual deserves respect and equality. Overall, it’s not just entertaining but also inspiring.
PART – 3
Why do people like watching TV serials?
I think people enjoy watching TV serials because they can relate to the characters and their experiences. Most serials reflect everyday life, emotions, and family situations, which makes viewers feel connected. Besides, watching TV is a way for many people to relax and unwind after a busy day.
IELTS SPEAKING TEST
How have TV shows changed compared to the past?
Earlier, TV shows used to focus mainly on traditional family stories or simple love dramas. Nowadays, they have become more modern and diverse — covering topics like women’s rights, mental health, technology, and social challenges. The production quality has also improved significantly with better acting, direction, and visuals.
Do you think watching TV is a waste of time?
It depends on what kind of shows a person watches. Educational or motivational programs can be quite beneficial as they increase knowledge or inspire people. However, spending too much time watching unnecessary or repetitive serials can definitely be a waste of time and reduce productivity.
What kind of TV serials are popular in your country?
In my country, people mostly enjoy family dramas, historical series, and reality shows. Family dramas like Anupamaa or Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai are extremely popular because they reflect Indian values, emotions, and relationships that people can easily relate to.
Do you prefer watching TV or using the internet for entertainment?
Personally, I prefer using the internet because it gives me more freedom and control. I can watch any show at any time without waiting for the telecast. Online platforms like Netflix or Hotstar also offer a wide range of international content, which makes entertainment more diverse and convenient.
