PART – 2
Describe a website that sells second-hand items
You should say:
-What the website is
-How you know about it
-What it sells
-And explain how you feel about using this website
SAMPLE ANSWER
I would like to talk about a website called OLX, which is one of the most popular platforms for buying and selling second-hand items in my country.
I first came to know about this website through a friend who sold his old motorbike on it. I was quite surprised to see how simple and convenient the process was. Later, I also downloaded the app and explored it myself.
The website sells almost everything — from furniture and electronic gadgets to cars, bikes, and even clothing. People can upload pictures, set a price, and potential buyers can directly contact them. What I like most is that it connects local buyers and sellers, so it’s easier to meet in person and check the product before purchasing.
IELTS SPEAKING TEST
I personally feel very positive about using this website because it promotes recycling and helps people save money. Instead of throwing things away, people can sell them at a reasonable price, and others who may not afford brand-new items can still get good products at lower costs. Overall, I think it’s a very practical and useful platform.
PART – 3
Why do people buy second-hand items?
People often buy second-hand items to save money. Sometimes, items like furniture or vehicles are still in good condition, so people prefer to buy them at a lower price rather than spending a huge amount on new ones.
Do you think selling used items online is popular in your country?
Yes, it’s becoming very popular. Many websites and apps allow people to sell their products easily. It’s convenient, safe, and also reduces waste, so people are showing more interest in second-hand markets.
IELTS SPEAKING TEST
What are the disadvantages of buying second-hand goods?
The main disadvantage is that sometimes the quality may not be as expected, and there might not be any warranty. Also, there is a risk of fraud if the seller is not genuine.
Do you think people will buy more second-hand goods in the future?
Yes, I believe so. With the rising cost of living, many people are looking for affordable options. Also, younger generations are becoming more environmentally conscious, so they see second-hand shopping as a way to reduce waste and promote sustainability.
