IELTS Speaking Test
Are you a creative person?
Yes, I believe I’m quite a creative person. I enjoy expressing myself through writing and sometimes sketching. I often come up with unique ideas, especially when solving problems or planning events. Creativity, for me, is more about thinking differently than being artistic.
What did you learn about creativity at school?
At school, I learned that creativity isn’t limited to art or music—it can be applied in every subject, even in science or maths. Some of our teachers encouraged us to think outside the box and not just memorise answers. Group projects and open-ended assignments really helped me explore creative thinking.
Does anyone in your family have a good imagination?
Yes, my younger brother has a vivid imagination. He loves writing short stories and often creates fictional characters and worlds. Sometimes, his ideas are so original that we wonder how he came up with them!
IELTS Speaking Test
Are people in your country generally very creative?
Yes, I would say so. In my country, many people express creativity through traditional arts, crafts, dance, and even food. With the rise of digital platforms, a lot of young people now showcase their creativity through content creation, photography, and startups.
Are you close with your family?
Yes, I’m very close to my family. We spend a lot of time together, especially during weekends and festivals. They’ve always supported me, and I feel comfortable sharing my thoughts with them.
IELTS Speaking Test
Who do you talk to in your family the most?
I talk to my mother the most. She’s always been a great listener, and I feel relaxed when I talk to her. Whether it’s something serious or just a casual chat, she’s usually the first person I go to.
Do you have a large family?
Not really. My immediate family consists of just my parents, my brother, and me. But we do have a lot of extended family members like uncles, aunts, and cousins, and we meet them occasionally during family gatherings.
IELTS Speaking Test
Are families becoming more distant in your country?
Unfortunately, yes. Due to busy lifestyles and work-related migration, many families are no longer living together. Younger generations often move to other cities or countries for better opportunities, which has made regular face-to-face interaction less frequent. However, technology has helped maintain communication to some extent.

SAMPLE ANSWER
One place where I really enjoy spending time alone is a small public park near my home, called Green Meadows Park. It’s located just a ten-minute walk from where I live, and although it’s not very large or famous, it offers a quiet and peaceful atmosphere that I truly appreciate.
I usually go there three to four times a week, especially in the early mornings or late evenings when it’s less crowded. I prefer those hours because the surroundings are calm, and I can really feel connected to nature without too many distractions.
When I go there, I like to sit on a bench under a big tree and either read a book, write in my journal, or just listen to music. Sometimes, I take a short walk along the pathway that circles the park. There’s a small pond with ducks, and just watching them swim around makes me feel peaceful. It’s also a good spot for some light meditation or just reflecting on my day.
The reason I enjoy spending time there alone is because it helps me recharge mentally and emotionally. In today’s busy world, we’re constantly surrounded by noise, people, and responsibilities, and this little park offers me a sense of escape. Being alone in nature helps me clear my thoughts, reduce stress, and even sparks creativity. I always leave feeling refreshed and more focused.
In short, Green Meadows Park is my personal retreat. It may not be a grand or luxurious place, but for me, it’s the perfect spot to find inner peace and enjoy some quality time with myself.

PART – 3 FOLLOW UPS
Is it important for people to spend time alone? Why?
Yes, I believe it’s extremely important for people to spend time alone. When we are constantly surrounded by others, it can be difficult to process our thoughts, emotions, and daily experiences. Spending time alone allows individuals to reflect, de-stress, and reconnect with themselves. It also promotes mental clarity, creativity, and emotional balance. In today’s fast-paced world, solitude acts as a form of self-care and can prevent burnout.
What are the advantages and disadvantages of being alone?
There are several advantages to being alone. It encourages self-awareness, helps improve concentration, and gives people space to think without interruption. It also allows one to engage in activities they personally enjoy without compromising. However, there are some disadvantages as well. Spending too much time alone can lead to feelings of loneliness, isolation, or even depression, especially for those who lack strong social support. Balance is key—solitude can be refreshing, but excessive isolation can be harmful.
IELTS Speaking Test
Do you think modern life leaves people enough time for themselves?
Honestly, not always. Modern life is quite demanding. With work pressures, social obligations, and digital distractions, many people find it difficult to carve out time for themselves. Even during leisure hours, individuals are often connected to social media or busy with family responsibilities. While technology has made life more convenient, it has also blurred the boundaries between work and personal time. People need to consciously make an effort to create space for solitude and self-reflection.
Do older people or younger people prefer to spend more time alone?
In general, older people tend to prefer solitude more than younger people. As people age, they often become more introspective and comfortable with themselves. They might also have fewer social commitments, which gives them more time to enjoy peaceful moments alone. On the other hand, younger individuals, especially teenagers and those in their twenties, are usually more social. They often seek excitement and companionship. However, this can vary greatly depending on a person’s personality and lifestyle.
IELTS Speaking Test
What kinds of places do people go to when they want to be alone?
People choose different places based on their preferences. Some might go to quiet parks, libraries, or cafes with a calm ambiance. Others may prefer natural settings like forests, beaches, or mountains for solitude. At home, many people create their own personal corners, such as a study room or balcony, where they can relax without being disturbed. The key factor is that the place offers peace and a sense of comfort away from daily noise and distractions.
Why do some people find it hard to be alone?
Some people struggle to be alone because they feel uncomfortable with their own thoughts or fear loneliness. They may rely on social interaction to feel validated or distracted from personal issues. In some cases, it could also be due to low self-esteem or anxiety. Additionally, those who are extroverted naturally draw energy from being around others, so solitude might feel draining rather than refreshing to them.
