Have you ever taken a ride on a boat?

Yes, I have! A couple of years ago, I went on a boat ride in Kerala during a family vacation. We took a houseboat through the backwaters, and it was a very peaceful and scenic experience.

Do you like travelling by boat?

Yes, I do enjoy it. It’s a relaxing way to travel, especially when you want to enjoy nature and escape the usual hustle of cars and trains. The gentle movement of the water and the scenic views make it quite enjoyable.

What are the advantages of travelling by boat?

Travelling by boat is often more peaceful and scenic compared to other forms of transport. It’s also eco-friendly if you’re using non-motorized or electric boats. Additionally, boats can reach remote places that cars or buses can’t access.

Do people in your country like to travel by boat?

In India, boat travel is more common in regions with rivers or coastal areas, like Kerala or Goa. While it’s not the main mode of transport for most people, it’s popular among tourists and locals in those areas.

Will it get more popular in the future?

Yes, I think so. With the growth of tourism and more emphasis on eco-friendly transport, boat rides might become more popular in scenic locations and even in urban waterways in big cities.

I’m going to talk about a person in my neighborhood who I find quite irritating. His name is Mr. Sharma, and he lives just two houses away from mine. He’s in his early 50s and has been living in our area for several years. At first, he seemed like a friendly and sociable person, but over time, many people, including me, started noticing some annoying traits in his behavior.

IELTS Speaking Test

One of the most irritating things about Mr. Sharma is that he tends to interfere in everyone’s personal matters. He constantly asks intrusive questions about people’s income, family problems, or private decisions, which makes everyone uncomfortable. Moreover, he has a habit of spreading rumors. For example, he once exaggerated a minor disagreement between two neighbors and turned it into a big issue in the entire colony.

Another thing that bothers me is his loud behavior. He often plays music on full volume, especially during the evening when most people want to relax. He also tends to gossip a lot and complains about almost everything – from kids playing in the park to the local shop’s prices.

To be honest, I don’t enjoy his company at all. I usually try to avoid long conversations with him, although I remain polite. While I respect everyone’s individuality, I believe people should respect others’ privacy and peace as well.

IELTS Speaking Test

How do people usually deal with annoying neighbors?

In most cases, people try to handle the situation in a calm and respectful manner. They might talk to the neighbor directly and express their concerns politely. If the behavior continues, they may involve a resident welfare association or even the local authorities if it’s a serious disturbance. Some people also choose to simply avoid confrontation and adjust their routine to limit interactions.

Do you think people are becoming less tolerant of others these days?

Yes, I believe that to some extent, people are becoming less tolerant. Modern life is fast-paced and stressful, which often reduces people’s patience and willingness to understand others. Additionally, the rise of digital communication has led to fewer real social interactions, which affects empathy and the ability to deal with difficult personalities calmly.

IELTS Speaking Test

What qualities make a person difficult to live with?

Several traits can make someone hard to live with. For example, being overly loud, disrespecting others’ privacy, spreading gossip, being overly judgmental, or being uncooperative in shared responsibilities. People who constantly complain or interfere in others’ personal matters also tend to create tension in a neighborhood or household.

Do you think it is important to have a good relationship with your neighbors?

Absolutely. A good relationship with neighbors creates a positive and safe environment. Neighbors can support each other in times of need, keep an eye on each other’s property, and contribute to a sense of community. Even a simple smile or greeting can build a friendly atmosphere and improve daily life.

IELTS Speaking Test

Are people in cities less friendly to their neighbors than people in villages? Why?

Generally, yes. People in villages often share a close-knit community and have stronger social bonds. They tend to interact more frequently and support one another. In contrast, city life is more individualistic. Urban residents are usually busier, have less free time, and often value privacy, which leads to fewer interactions with neighbors.

Should children be taught how to deal with difficult people?

Yes, definitely. Learning how to handle difficult people is an essential life skill. Children should be taught conflict resolution, patience, and how to set healthy boundaries. This will help them grow into emotionally intelligent adults who can manage workplace stress, social situations, and personal relationships more effectively.
