Is summer your favourite time of year? [Why/Why not?]

I like the summer season when it is not too hot, but I can not say that it is my favourite season because I like Autumn over any other season. During mild summer, which lasts for just a month or two, the weather is just perfect for outdoor activities and visiting beach areas. But the rest of the summer is too hot and too humid for my liking. In our country, the sun often shines mercilessly and the temperature reaches around 40 degree Celsius.

What do you do in summer when the weather’s very hot? [Why?]

I am extremely lucky that I own a house that has air coolers, and I work in an office that has a central air conditioner. I even have my own car. So I can mostly avoid the fierce hot weather and stay cool indoors. Sometimes when I go out without the comfort of the car, I can feel the heat and perspire profoundly. This is extremely annoying but this is the reality for millions of people in our country. During summer, I try to drink plenty of water and go out during the evening time after sunset to avoid direct sunlight.

Do you go on holiday every summer? [Why/Why not?]

Yes, I enjoy holidays during the summer season, when I get one or two weeks’ leave from my office. I either choose a sea beach or a location near a river or a lake in summer to enjoy the view and get away from the hustle and bustle of city life.

Did you enjoy the summer holidays when you were at school? [Why/Why not?]

During my school days, the summer seasons were not as hot and humid as they are today, or at least this is what I think now! So I was not too concerned about the extreme weather during summer seasons back then. And of course, I loved the summer holidays as it meant a long leave from school, visiting grandparents’ house and doing fun activities with family and friends. Those were magical days.

What do you like to drink with your dinner? [Why?]

With my dinner, I usually prefer to drink water. Water is a refreshing and hydrating beverage that complements the flavours of the food without overpowering them. It helps to cleanse the palate and aids in digestion. Additionally, water is a healthier choice as it has no added sugars or calories, and it keeps me well-hydrated throughout the meal.

Do you drink a lot of water every day? [Why/Why not?]

Yes, I make it a point to drink an adequate amount of water every day. Water is essential for maintaining proper bodily functions, regulating body temperature, and promoting overall health. It helps to hydrate the body, flush out toxins, and support various bodily processes. Additionally, staying hydrated helps me feel more alert, energized, and focused throughout the day.

Do you prefer drinking tea or coffee? [Why?]

Personally, I prefer drinking tea over coffee. I find the taste and aroma of different types of tea to be soothing and comforting. Tea offers a wide variety of flavours, ranging from herbal and fruity to rich and earthy. I appreciate the calming effect that tea has, and it often serves as a relaxing ritual for me. Moreover, tea contains less caffeine compared to coffee, making it a preferable choice for me as I am sensitive to the effects of caffeine.

If people visit you in your home, what do you usually offer them to drink? [Why/Why not?]

When people visit my home, I typically offer them a selection of beverages to choose from, including tea, coffee, water, and some soft drinks. I believe in providing options to accommodate different preferences and tastes. It allows guests to choose what they would enjoy the most and makes them feel welcomed and comfortable in my home.

One unusual job I would love to do if given the opportunity is becoming a professional food taster for space missions, like the astronauts at NASA have. It might sound strange at first, but it’s a real and very important job.

I think it’s quite an unusual profession because not many people even know it exists. Most of us associate food tasting with high-end restaurants or luxury hotels, but doing it for space programs adds a whole different level of uniqueness. These food tasters help scientists evaluate how food tastes and reacts in zero gravity, how long it can be stored, and how nutrition is maintained over time in space.

I first read about this role in a documentary on the Discovery Channel, which was about preparing astronauts for long-term missions to Mars. The segment focused on how crucial food is not only for survival but also for mental well-being in space, and that’s when the job really caught my attention.

What I find most fascinating is how science, nutrition, and even psychology intersect in this job. It combines my love for food with an adventurous, scientific twist. The idea of contributing, even indirectly, to space exploration while doing something as enjoyable as tasting food is both exciting and meaningful.

Is it important to have a retirement age?

Yes, I strongly believe having a retirement age is essential for maintaining a balanced and sustainable workforce. A fixed retirement age ensures that older employees, who may face declining physical or cognitive abilities, can leave the workforce with dignity and financial security. At the same time, it allows younger generations to access job opportunities and move up the career ladder.

For example, in many countries, the retirement age is around 60 to 65, which aligns with pension schemes and healthcare benefits. It also gives people a clear timeframe to plan their savings, investments, and future lifestyle.

However, I do think there should be flexibility for those who wish to continue working—especially in intellectual or artistic fields, where experience and creativity often improve with age. In those cases, optional retirement might be more suitable.

Is a part-time job in your country supported by schools?

This really varies depending on the region and the educational institution. In urban areas or international schools, part-time work is often encouraged. Schools might offer flexible schedules or even credits for internship experience. Some universities collaborate with local businesses, providing students with opportunities to gain work experience while studying.

However, in more traditional or rural areas, part-time work is sometimes discouraged. The main concern is that it could distract students from their academics. Teachers and parents often worry that juggling work and studies might affect performance, especially during exam seasons.

That said, the trend is changing. Many institutions now recognize that part-time jobs teach valuable life skills—like time management, communication, and responsibility—that can’t always be taught in a classroom.

Does the government have the right to impose a particular number of workers on a company?

In my opinion, the government should generally avoid interfering too much with a company’s internal decisions, including staffing. Private enterprises operate on market dynamics, and they should be allowed the freedom to hire based on demand, budget, and operational capacity.

However, there are exceptions. In sectors critical to public welfare—like education, healthcare, or public transport—the government may impose minimum staffing levels to ensure quality and safety. For instance, in hospitals, there might be a legal requirement for a certain number of nurses per patient to maintain proper care.

Moreover, governments sometimes use workforce quotas to promote inclusivity. For example, companies might be required to hire a minimum percentage of people with disabilities or underrepresented minorities. In such cases, I think regulation is justified for social equality.

In what way are students guided to choose their career?

Students are guided through a combination of academic counseling, aptitude testing, and parental influence. In progressive schools, career counseling is an integrated part of the curriculum. These sessions involve psychometric tests, one-on-one discussions, and even exposure to various professions through seminars and workshops.

Parents also play a crucial role, especially in cultures where family traditions or expectations influence career paths. For instance, in my country, many students are still encouraged to pursue conventional careers like engineering, medicine, or law—even if they have creative talents.

Additionally, online platforms and social media have become modern career guides. Platforms like LinkedIn or YouTube offer students insight into the daily lives of professionals, helping them make more informed decisions.
