Do you like (to learn about) history?
Yes, I like to learn about history as it gives me knowledge about the origin and development of my nation and other parts of the world. Also, it helps to understand how the human race evolved over the period of time.
What historical event do you find most interesting?
I find the period when India fought for its independence from the British rule the most interesting. Many movements were initiated during that time by the revolutionists and I like to learn and listen about those stories from my grandfather.

Do you think history is important?
Yes, history is very important as it helps us to understand and learn about the historical events and trends. Also, history makes us aware about the mistakes done in the past such as initiation of World Wars which results in nothing more than destruction of the human race. It cautions us to avoid committing such mistakes in future.
Do you like to watch programmes on TV about history?
Yes, I love to watch daily soaps based on major historical events and also, like to watch documentaries on the History channel on television.

Do you think you can really learn history from films and TV programmes?
Yes, I think learning history from films and TV programmes is much more interesting and fast rather than learning it from the books as history can be a boring subject for some people. Films make it easy to learn about the history through visual aids.

Yes, the Internet is equipped with all sorts of knowledge and information about history. One can learn about every event by researching and using various articles available on the internet.

One old tree that I’ve seen and remember vividly is a banyan tree located in the courtyard of an ancient temple in my hometown, which is a small city in northern India. The tree is not only massive but also holds historical and cultural significance.
As far as I know, this particular banyan tree is estimated to be over 200 years old. The temple where it grows was built during the early 19th century, and according to local folklore, the tree was planted around the same time as the temple’s construction.
Interestingly, the tree isn’t used for any commercial purpose. However, it serves several community and spiritual functions. For example, local villagers often gather beneath its shade to socialize, meditate, or even conduct small religious rituals. During festivals, people decorate it with colorful threads and offerings as part of their traditions.
What I truly admire about this tree is its sheer size and presence. Its roots hang down like curtains, and its wide canopy provides a cool, peaceful environment even on the hottest summer days. I also appreciate the sense of continuity and wisdom it represents—it’s like a silent witness to generations of change. The fact that it has survived for so long, weathering countless storms and seasons, is really inspiring.

Absolutely. Trees in cities help improve air quality, reduce noise pollution, and provide much-needed shade and greenery. In urban areas full of concrete and traffic, trees offer a connection to nature, which can have a positive impact on people’s mental health. Moreover, they help reduce the urban heat island effect, making cities more livable.
What are some benefits of planting trees in public places?
There are several benefits. Firstly, trees enhance the aesthetic appeal of public spaces like parks and streets. Secondly, they serve ecological functions, such as supporting biodiversity and preventing soil erosion. Finally, they also promote community engagement, as people tend to gather and socialize in green spaces.

Should governments take responsibility for planting and protecting trees?
Yes, I believe the government plays a crucial role. While individuals can contribute, large-scale tree planting and conservation require planning, regulation, and funding—all of which are best handled by authorities. Do older people and younger people have different attitudes toward trees?
