Do you like art?
Yeah, I’m really into art coz it helps to release my stress. It’s a good way to get it out of my system from singing or painting. And art makes me be able to perceive the world better, like to discover beauty in life, and to improve my aesthetic level.
Do you like visiting art galleries?
Yeah, love to go to art galleries on my days off coz it’s cool to take snapshots there and put them on my moments. More importantly, I have the chance to know different genres, and listen to the stories told by the guides.

Do you want to be an artist?
Well my answer is no because most of the artists are in limbo. I mean, it’s very hard for a person to make a name for him or herself in the industry. I know it sounds utilitarian, but that’s the truth. And if that’s the case, it’s impossible for an artist to support him or herself.
Do you like modern art or traditional art?
Honestly, I’m an outsider to art, but I should say, I just love both because each has its strong points. To my understanding, traditional art provides a basis for aesthetic level, showing people the details of the artwork. And modern art is sort of like, breaking the mould and reflecting the artists’ thoughts.

Do you like painting/ drawing? Why?
Yes, I do. I used to be fancy of drawing when I was in primary school. I just enjoyed copying the figure in my drawing book and making use of any colour as I like. I felt proud of being praised by my relatives when they saw my drawing posted on the wall of my house.
Do you want to learn more about art?
No. I simply take it as some entertainment activities to kill time like sculpturing or paper cutting, not something that I would like to pay special attention or invest, or put alot of efforts. As I mentioned, handicrafts making is too time consuming and challenging to be adept. So, as opposed to making such stuff, I would rather spend some time listening to music and learn how to sing.
Do you think children should learn drawing?
It depends. If a child has an interest in drawing, it’s good for them to do. Parents should encourage their children to do what they like. However, it’s useless to push every child to learn drawing.

One highly effective method I used to learn a language was the “shadowing technique,” which involves listening to native speakers and repeating their speech immediately, mimicking pronunciation, intonation, and rhythm in real time. I used this approach while learning English, especially to improve my speaking and listening skills.

I primarily practiced this method using English podcasts and YouTube videos—particularly TED Talks and language learning channels. I would listen to a short segment, then replay it while trying to repeat the words as closely as possible to how the speaker said them. At first, it was quite challenging, especially with fast speakers, but over time my fluency and accent noticeably improved.
Occasionally, I practiced with a friend who was also learning English. We would take turns shadowing different clips and then give each other feedback. It turned into a fun and interactive learning session, which also kept us motivated.
I found this method incredibly effective because it focused on real-time language use and forced me to actively engage with the language rather than passively consume it. It improved not only my pronunciation but also my ability to understand native speakers, especially in fast-paced conversations. Moreover, it helped me develop a more natural speaking rhythm, which is often hard to acquire through textbooks alone.

Why do some people find it difficult to learn a second language?
There are several reasons why learning a second language can be challenging. Firstly, adults often struggle with pronunciation and grammar rules because their brains are less flexible compared to children’s. Secondly, many people don’t have regular exposure to the language they’re learning, which limits their practice opportunities. Additionally, fear of making mistakes can cause anxiety, leading to a lack of confidence when speaking. Lastly, time constraints due to work or study can make it difficult to maintain consistent practice, which is essential for language acquisition.
Is it better to learn a language in the country where it is spoken?
Yes, learning a language in a country where it’s spoken can be extremely effective. Being immersed in the language allows for constant exposure, which helps with vocabulary retention and natural fluency. It also encourages learners to think and respond quickly, just like a native speaker would. More importantly, interacting with locals provides insights into cultural expressions, slang, and social norms, which are often absent from textbooks. However, motivation and effort are still necessary—just living abroad doesn’t guarantee fluency.

Do you think the way children learn languages is different from the way adults learn them?
Absolutely. Children typically learn languages unconsciously through immersion. They pick up patterns by listening and repeating without needing formal grammar instruction. Their brains are wired for language learning, making it easier for them to acquire native-like pronunciation. Adults, in contrast, usually learn more analytically—they study grammar rules and vocabulary systematically. While this method can be effective, it often slows down the development of natural speaking skills. Moreover, adults tend to be more self-conscious about making mistakes, which can hinder fluency.
What kind of motivation do people need to learn a foreign language?
Motivation can vary from person to person, but common types include instrumental and integrative motivation. Instrumental motivation refers to learning a language for practical reasons, such as getting a job, studying abroad, or passing an exam. Integrative motivation, on the other hand, comes from a desire to connect with the culture or people of that language.
