Is summer your favourite time of year? [Why/Why not?]

I like the summer season when it is not too hot, but I can- not say that it is my favourite season because I like Autumn over any other season. During mild summer, which lasts for just a month or two, the weather is just perfect for outdoor activities and visiting beach areas. But the rest of the summer is too hot and too humid for my liking.

What do you do in summer when the weather’s very hot? [Why?]

I am extremely lucky that I own a house that has air coolers, and I work in an office that has a central air conditioner. I even have my own car. So I can mostly avoid the fierce hot weather and stay cool indoors. Sometimes when I go out without the comfort of the car, I can feel the heat and perspire profoundly. This is extremely annoying but this is the reality for millions of people in our country.

Do you go on holiday every summer? [Why/Why not?]

Yes, I enjoy holidays during the summer season, when I get one or two weeks’ leave from my office. I either choose a sea beach or a location near a river or a lake in summer to enjoy the view and get away from the hustle and bustle of city life.

Did you enjoy the summer holidays when you were at school? [Why/Why not?]

During my school days, the summer seasons were not as hot and humid as they are today, or at least this is what I think now! So I was not too concerned about the extreme weather during summer seasons back then. And of course, I loved the summer holidays as it meant a long leave from school, visiting my grandparents’ house and doing fun activities with family and friends. Those were magical days.

First of all, I would like to thank you a lot for such a great topic.  I indeed have quite a few places that are special to my heart, but the one, I want to talk about, is the town in which I spent my teenage years as a high school student.

The town is called (…say the name of a town in your country…). I have visited this town several times after leaving it, but I found it to have changed quite a bit when I visited the place about a couple of years ago for the last time. In fact, this town doesn’t really have many of those open spaces anymore which could easily be found all over the place, and instead, plenty of new buildings can be found to have been built there in order to accommodate a growing population, obviously.

Having said that, however, some of the main attractions of this town are still intact, such as the narrow but long lake, full of many tiny birds, as well as some of the century-old, tall buildings which used to be used and occupied by the then-landlords to handle their official works. Besides, intact can be found in this not-so-big town is also an old cinema theatre where I used to visit at least once every week to watch my favourite movies.

But, of course, one can’t only swim in that beautiful lake to cool himself or herself down during a hot summer day and visit a movie theatre, he or she can also enjoy some fresh and local foods at some of the old restaurants which are still in operation. Besides, this town is still a good place for those laidback people who want to enjoy a friendly soccer match on a lazy afternoon in a relaxed mood.

Anyway, this place is special to me, mainly because it is in this town and high school that I received a strong foundation in education and intellectual freedom. Besides, it is in this town where I managed to make some life-long friends. This town is special also because it has become a part of me and my teenage memories.

What problems can people have when they are on their journey, for example, to work or school? Why is this?

People often face traffic congestion during their commute, which can lead to delays and increased stress. This is especially common in large cities where the number of vehicles exceeds the capacity of the roads. Additionally, public transport can be overcrowded, causing discomfort and delays. These issues are usually due to inadequate infrastructure and high population density.

Why do people need to travel every day?

People need to travel daily for work or education, as it is essential for their professional and academic commitments. Commuting allows them to access job opportunities or attend classes that are not available in their immediate vicinity. Additionally, daily travel helps maintain a work-life balance by separating personal time from professional responsibilities.

Can travel make a positive difference to a country’s economy? How?

Yes, travel can positively impact a country’s economy by boosting tourism revenue. Visitors spend money on accommodation, food, and attractions, which support local businesses and create jobs. Additionally, increased tourism can lead to better infrastructure development, benefiting both locals and visitors alike.
