IELTS Speaking Test
Have you ever seen some old buildings in the city?
Yes, there are some old buildings in this city. I come from a city which is full of old buildings, but in this city there’s not so many, but there are some, and I really like that. I think a city should remember its heritage.
Do you think we should preserve old buildings in cities?
Yes, I do think old buildings should be preserved, not any old building. If it’s old and run down and it’s going to fall down, then it should be knocked down and rebuilt, or a new building should be built. But, you know, if it’s something of historical significance, or a particularly beautiful building of maybe architectural significance, then they should be preserved.
Do you prefer living in an old building or a modern house?
I think there’s advantages in both old buildings and modern houses. Personally, I prefer older buildings because I’m very tall and the ceilings are usually higher, although sometimes there’s issues with draughts and insulation.
IELTS Speaking Test
Are there any old buildings you want to see in the future? Why?
Yes, ancient rather than old buildings. I’d still like to see some ancient buildings. I’ve been to many places, but I’ve never been to Egypt or Greece or some of these really historic places in the Middle East, some of which are huge stone buildings, which I just think are absolutely incredible.
What snacks do you like to eat?
I don’t usually like crisps or anything like that. I usually eat things like biscuits. I try not to eat too many. And at the moment I am eating sultanas, which I absolutely love, to be quite honest with you.
Did you often eat snacks when you were young?
No, I didn’t really. We had our meals at meal times and that was it, basically. Unless there was a piece of fruit sometime in the evening. Although my brother and I hardly ate it at all.
IELTS Speaking Test
When do you usually eat snacks now?
These days, if I eat snacks at all, I’ll be watching TV, which is more or less every night. And I just need something maybe around 09:00, 09:30. I need just something to something to do with my mouth rather than, it’s not a matter of hunger, really.
Do you think it is healthy for you to eat snacks?
I don’t really, I think it’s better to eat something rather than go to bed hungry, to be quite honest with you, because if I go to bed hungry, then I don’t sleep very well. But I think it’s better for the food to be digested before you go to sleep.

SAMPLE ANSWER
IELTS Speaking Test
My favorite kind of weather is mild and sunny with a slight breeze, typically during the spring or early autumn. The temperature is usually around 18 to 22°C (65 to 72°F), which feels neither too hot nor too cold, just comfortable. The sky is mostly clear, but there might be a few fluffy clouds drifting by, making the day feel peaceful and pleasant.
During this kind of weather, I like to spend time outdoors, often going for a walk in the park or along a scenic trail. If I’m at home, I might sit outside on the balcony with a book or a cup of tea, enjoying the warmth of the sun on my skin. I also enjoy taking photos of nature, especially when the sunlight creates beautiful shadows or makes the leaves shimmer in the breeze. It’s a great time for outdoor activities like cycling, picnicking, or even visiting outdoor markets.

This weather has a very positive impact on me. It uplifts my mood, making me feel more energetic and motivated to accomplish tasks. The sunlight boosts my serotonin levels, helping me feel happier and more content. I also find it easier to concentrate and be productive when the weather is mild, unlike when it’s either too hot or too cold, which can make me feel sluggish or distracted.
Overall, I feel very refreshed and at peace when the weather is like this. It’s not too harsh, and there’s a sense of balance in the air, which I find calming. It’s the kind of weather that makes me appreciate the simple pleasures of life, like spending time outside and enjoying nature.

PART – 3 FOLLOW UPS
What kind of weather do people in your country usually enjoy?
People in my country tend to enjoy mild, sunny weather with pleasant temperatures. It’s quite common for people to enjoy being outdoors when the weather is neither too hot nor too cold, as it’s ideal for a variety of activities. Many people also look forward to spring because of the blooming flowers and fresh air.
Do you think the weather can influence people’s mood?
Yes, definitely. I believe that weather can have a significant impact on a person’s mood. For example, sunny weather can make people feel more positive, energized, and happy, whereas rainy or gloomy weather can sometimes make people feel down or sluggish. Personally, I feel much more productive and motivated when the weather is pleasant and sunny.
IELTS Speaking Test
Is there any weather that you dislike?
I don’t particularly enjoy extremely hot weather or heavy rain. When it’s too hot, I find it difficult to concentrate, and it often drains my energy. On the other hand, heavy rain can make me feel a bit trapped indoors and less inclined to go outside. I prefer moderate, comfortable temperatures that allow me to enjoy being outdoors.
How does weather affect people’s lifestyle?
Weather plays a big role in shaping people’s daily activities and routines. For example, in hot weather, people may adjust their routines to stay cool, perhaps by wearing lighter clothing, staying indoors during peak heat hours, or drinking more water. In cold weather, people might dress warmly, spend more time indoors, and engage in winter sports. In general, weather affects everything from what people wear to the types of activities they enjoy and how they feel throughout the day.
