How often do you use a computer?
Oh, I’m on my laptop at least 6 hours a day! As online IELTS instructor, it is invaluable. I use a laptop for everything from planning lessons to teaching over Zoom. Not only do I use it for work, I also use it to keep in touch with my relatives living abroad. Right now, I’m living in Vietnam while my family live in Ireland, so I contact them by email or facebook messenger.
Do you think it is important to learn how to use a computer?
Definitely, nowadays computer literacy is vital. A few decades ago, it was essential that one could read, write and do basic math. Although, these skills are still incredibly important, nowadays, I would say the ability to use various devices is even more valuable.

Do you have your own computer?
Fortunately, I do. I bought a laptop a few years ago. I choose to purchase a Macbook Pro as I’d heard lots of good reviews about that model. Because it cost a fortune, I was hesitant at first. I suppose this was because it was the latest model and included some cutting-edge features. However, I’ve had it for more than 3 years and it hasn’t shown any signs of age so I would definitely recommend this model to my friends.
How often do you cut your hair?
I tend to have my hair trimmed every three or four weeks. I used to have longer hair but it’s pretty short at the moment so it’s important that I get it cut regularly. Otherwise it looks messy and unprofessional. I usually go to a small barber shop that’s close to my house. The barbers there are really talented, I’d trust them with my life!

Why do people like to dye their hair?
As I see it, there are two main reasons people choose to have their hair dyed. First of all, everyone needs a change from time to time! I mean, people get bored of the same old colour. Actually, I’ve noticed that many young ladies have begun dying their hair bright colours like blue and pink. It’s a trend that seems to be catching on! Secondly, elderly people, both men and women tend to dye their hair to avoid looking old. I guess grey isn’t a youthful colour.

SAMPLE ANSWER
One of the most important lessons I learned from a teacher was during my high school years, specifically in 10th grade. The subject was Mathematics, and my teacher, Mrs. Thomas, had a profound influence on my understanding of the subject and how I approached learning in general.
The key thing I learned from Mrs. Thomas was the importance of problem-solving skills and how breaking down complex problems into smaller, manageable steps makes them much easier to tackle. I remember being quite intimidated by mathematics before her class, but she taught us a methodical approach to solving problems that made the subject more logical and less overwhelming.

She emphasized the idea that every problem has a solution, but it’s crucial to approach it step by step, rather than trying to find an answer all at once.
This was important to me because it not only improved my math grades but also changed my approach to tackling problems in everyday life. I realized that if I take time to break things down and think critically, I can handle even the most difficult challenges. Mrs. Thomas’s guidance helped me build confidence in my problem-solving abilities, and that lesson has stayed with me throughout my education and career.
PART – 3 FOLLOW UPS
Do you think teachers should focus more on practical skills than theory?
Yes, I do think a balance between both is important, but focusing on practical skills can be especially beneficial. It makes the learning process more relevant and applicable to real-world situations. In my experience, practical skills like problem-solving have had a more lasting impact than theoretical knowledge alone.

How do you think learning from a teacher can be different from learning on your own?
Learning from a teacher provides structure and guidance, which can make the learning process more efficient. Teachers can offer different perspectives, clarify doubts, and give personalized feedback, whereas learning on your own can be isolating and sometimes more challenging without that support.
What role does motivation play in a student’s learning?
Motivation is crucial because it keeps students engaged and eager to learn. A motivated student is more likely to put in the effort needed to understand the material. Teachers can help foster motivation by creating an encouraging environment and connecting the subject matter to real-life interests.
IELTS Speaking Test
Do you think students today have the same opportunities to learn from teachers as you did?
I believe students today have even more opportunities, especially with the advent of online learning platforms and digital resources. However, I think personal interaction with teachers remains irreplaceable for deeper understanding and guidance. The relationship between a teacher and student can inspire a level of learning that technology alone can’t provide.
