Do you like ice cream?

I have a moderate liking for ice cream. While I enjoy the occasional treat, I don’t crave it on a regular basis. I appreciate the various flavors and textures that ice cream offers, especially during the hot summer months.

Did you eat ice cream when you were a child?

Yes, I have fond memories of enjoying ice cream as a child. It was a special treat that my parents would occasionally surprise me with. Whether it was a visit to an ice cream parlor or a simple bowl of homemade ice cream, those moments brought me great joy and a sense of excitement.

Are there shops selling ice cream near the place where you live?

Yes, I’m fortunate to have several ice cream shops conveniently located near my residence. They offer a wide selection of flavors and toppings, making it easy for me to satisfy my occasional cravings for ice cream.

Can you make ice cream yourself?

Absolutely! I have always been fascinated by the idea of making my own ice cream. The thought of experimenting with different flavors and ingredients to create a unique and personalized treat excites me. It would be a fun and rewarding experience to learn the art of ice cream making.

Do you often stay up late?

Yeah, sort of. I’m a typical night bird. And you know, just force of habit. It happens if the deadline’s coming up on weekdays. And the thing is, when it’s been the daily routine, it’s going to be really hard for me to sleep early on my days off.

Did you stay up late when you were a kid?

Well I’m not so sure about that coz it’s really a long time ago. I guess, I kept early hours when I was a little. After all, back then I wasn’t overwhelmed by the work or had to burn the midnight oil on weekdays.

What do you do when you stay up late?

Sometimes I have a lot of work to catch up on, like the prep work for presentation or going over the notes for the coming exam. By the way, on New Year’s Eve, I usually watch the Spring Festival Gala with my family members. It’s a kind of tradition in China, you know, to say farewell to the old and welcome the new.

What does it feel like the next morning if you stay up late?

If I continue the pattern, I mean, staying up late for more than 3 days, I probably feel sleepy the next day and just wanna have some caffeine to cheer me up. The interesting thing is, if I fust stay up late once in a while, you know, to prepare something important for the exam day or something like that, I’m gonna in high spirits the next morning and even excel myself.

One thing I created that I’m particularly proud of is a personalized scrapbook. I made it about two years ago, during the summer, when I was feeling nostalgic and wanted to preserve some of my favorite memories. It took me around two weeks to complete, as I put a lot of thought into every detail, from choosing the photos to decorating the pages.

The scrapbook was a compilation of my travels, family events, and other significant moments from the past few years. I also included little mementos like ticket stubs, postcards, and handwritten notes. I wanted to create something that could capture the emotions of those memories in a physical way, especially since many of my photos were just stored digitally.

I decided to make this scrapbook because I felt like we often overlook the importance of printed memories in the digital age. Photos on phones or social media don’t always have the same sentimental value. I wanted a tangible reminder of the people, places, and experiences that meant the most to me. Additionally, the process of making the scrapbook itself was a fun and creative outlet, allowing me to reflect on those moments while crafting something unique.

Do you enjoy making things with your hands? Why or why not?

Yes, I really enjoy making things with my hands. It’s a great way to unwind and focus on something creative. I find it quite relaxing because it allows me to be in the moment and gives me a sense of accomplishment when I complete a project. Whether it’s creating art, cooking, or DIY crafts, working with my hands helps me feel more connected to the task and less stressed.

How important is it to be creative in life?

Creativity plays an important role in life because it encourages problem-solving, innovation, and personal expression. Whether in professional work or personal hobbies, being creative can lead to new ideas, help us cope with challenges, and even improve our mental health. It gives us a sense of fulfillment and satisfaction, especially when we can bring our ideas to life. Plus, creative activities often help us see the world from a different perspective, which is valuable in both social and professional settings.

IELTS Speaking Test

Are people in your country good at making things by hand?

Yes, in my country, there is a rich tradition of craftsmanship and creating things by hand. Many people still practice traditional arts and crafts, such as pottery, weaving, and woodworking, especially in rural areas. In cities, people are also into DIY projects, home decor, and personalized gifts. With the rise of social media, many young people have become interested in handmade items, as they enjoy the uniqueness and personal touch that comes with handcrafted goods.

Do you think people will continue to make things by hand in the future?

I believe that yes, people will continue to make things by hand in the future, but perhaps in a different way. While technology is advancing rapidly, there will always be a place for handmade items, whether in the form of artistic expression or personal hobbies. Many people are already turning back to handmade products as a reaction to mass-produced goods, valuing the craftsmanship, quality, and personal connection that come with them. Additionally, with the increasing interest in sustainability and eco-friendly practices, making things by hand could become even more popular in the future.
