Are water sports popular in your country?
I’m not that sure, but from what I can see, the young people around me tend to enjoy water sports, such as scuba diving and surfing, to have fun. But for others, like the older generation, they are not that into it.
What water sports do you like?
I’m into all kinds of water sports. In terms of the extreme ones, I enjoy scuba diving and surfing because doing it makes me feel excited and I really get a good kick out of it. And in terms of something gentle, I prefer water yoga as it helps me to keep fit.
How often do you take a break?
I take breaks often while working or studying because it becomes difficult to concentrate for a long-time. If I were to focus on one task continuously I wouldn’t be able to perform well. Short breaks will allow me to refresh my mind to handle my tasks.

What do you usually do during a break?
When I take a break, I choose to listen to music to relax myself. I also close my eyes and give them a short rest before continuing to work. If it is a relatively long break, I may choose to watch a short TV episode or eat something in order to get more energy when I return to work.
Do you like spending time by yourself?
Yes, I enjoy spending time by myself. In other words, I don’t mind being alone. Nowadays it’s been more difficult to have real private time, I mean the time just for myself. Therefore, sometimes I like to be alone to enjoy that private time which makes me think of something or just relax.

SAMPLE ANSWER
One dish I know how to cook quite well is vegetable biryani, a fragrant and flavorful rice dish that originates from the Indian subcontinent. It is a one-pot meal made with basmati rice, mixed vegetables, and aromatic spices, all cooked together to create a vibrant, satisfying dish. I first learned to make vegetable biryani from a friend who is an excellent cook and has Indian heritage. She showed me the traditional method of preparing the dish, and I’ve since refined the recipe based on my preferences, often experimenting with different vegetables or spice blends.

To make vegetable biryani, you need a few key ingredients. These include basmati rice, which is known for its long, fluffy grains and aromatic fragrance. You’ll also need a variety of vegetables, such as carrots, peas, potatoes, and green beans. For the spices, you’ll require cumin seeds, garam masala, turmeric, cinnamon sticks, cloves, and cardamom.
You’ll also need garlic, ginger, onions, and fresh cilantro or mint leaves to add freshness and fragrance. To finish the dish, a bit of saffron soaked in warm milk is often added for color and flavor. The biryani is typically served with raita, a yogurt-based side dish that complements the spiciness.

I learned to cook this dish from my friend during a visit to her home, where she was preparing a traditional family dinner. She demonstrated the steps of making biryani from scratch, explaining the importance of layering the rice and vegetables properly to achieve the right texture and flavor. After that, I practiced making it a few times on my own, and now it’s a dish I can make confidently, whether for family dinners or small gatherings.
Cooking vegetable biryani is a multi-step process, but it’s not overly difficult. The first step is to wash and soak the basmati rice for about 30 minutes to help it cook evenly and remain separate. While the rice is soaking, I heat oil in a large pot or pressure cooker and begin by frying thinly sliced onions until they turn golden brown. Once the onions are crispy, I add ginger and garlic paste, followed by the mixed vegetables, and cook them for a few minutes. After that, I add the spices—cumin, garam masala, turmeric, and a cinnamon stick—to the pot, letting them release their fragrance.

Next, I add the soaked rice to the pot, followed by water and salt. Sometimes, I’ll add saffron soaked in milk for extra color and richness. The pot is then covered and simmered on low heat until the rice is fully cooked and the flavors have melded together. Once done, I garnish the biryani with fresh cilantro or mint leaves and serve it hot with a side of cooling raita.
Overall, vegetable biryani is a comforting and aromatic dish that I love making for special occasions or when I want something flavorful and hearty. It’s a great example of how a simple combination of vegetables and spices can turn into a truly satisfying meal.
